They will look toward the earth and see only distress, darkness, and the gloom of affliction, and they will be driven into thick darkness.

Then they will look toward the earth and see only distress and darkness and fearful gloom, and they will be thrust into utter darkness.

Then they will look at the earth. They’ll see nothing but suffering and darkness. They’ll see terrible sadness. They’ll be driven into total darkness.

“ Then the king told the attendants,‘ Tie him up hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

The wicked one is thrown down by his own sin, but the righteous one has a refuge in his death.

He is driven from light to darkness and chased from the inhabited world.

Go to God’s instruction and testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, there will be no dawn for them.

“ Immediately after the distress of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not shed its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

In those times there was no peace for those who went about their daily activities because the residents of the lands had many conflicts.Nation was crushed by nation and city by city, for God troubled them with every possible distress.

Therefore, their way will seem like slippery paths in the gloom. They will be driven away and fall down there, for I will bring disaster on them, the year of their punishment. This is the LORD’s declaration.

Woe to you who long for the day of the LORD! What will the day of the LORD be for you? It will be darkness and not light.It will be like a man who flees from a lion only to have a bear confront him. He goes home and rests his hand against the wall only to have a snake bite him.Won’t the day of the LORD be darkness rather than light, even gloom without any brightness in it?

“ Then there will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and there will be anguish on the earth among nations bewildered by the roaring of the sea and the waves.People will faint from fear and expectation of the things that are coming on the world, because the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

Nevertheless, the gloom of the distressed land will not be like that of the former times when he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali. But in the future he will bring honor to the way of the sea, to the land east of the Jordan, and to Galilee of the nations.
