Consult God’s instruction and the testimony of warning. If anyone does not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn.

Follow what the Lord taught you and said to you through me. People who don’t speak in keeping with these words will have no hope in the morning.

To the teaching and to the testimony! If they will not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn.

Look to God’s instructions and teachings! People who contradict his word are completely in the dark.

To the Law and to the testimony! If they do not speak in accordance with this word, it is because they have no dawn.

To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

To the law and to the testimony! if they speak not according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.

Then you must recall the LORD’s instructions and the prophetic testimony of what would happen. Certainly they say such things because their minds are spiritually darkened.

Turn to the law and to the covenant! If they don’t speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.

We also have the prophetic word strongly confirmed, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

Go now, write it on a tablet in their presence and inscribe it on a scroll; it will be for the future, forever and ever.They are a rebellious people, deceptive children, children who do not want to listen to the LORD’s instruction.They say to the seers,“ Do not see,” and to the prophets,“ Do not prophesy the truth to us. Tell us flattering things. Prophesy illusions.Get out of the way! Leave the pathway. Rid us of the Holy One of Israel.”

Bind up the testimony. Seal up the instruction among my disciples.

The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and snared. They have rejected the word of the LORD, so what wisdom do they really have?

But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings, and you will go out and playfully jump like calves from the stall.

Therefore, it will be night for you— without visions; it will grow dark for you— without divination. The sun will set on these prophets, and the daylight will turn black over them.

For if you believed Moses, you would believe me, because he wrote about me.But if you don’t believe what he wrote, how will you believe my words?”

You pore over the Scriptures because you think you have eternal life in them, and yet they testify about me.

and you know that from infancy you have known the sacred Scriptures, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness,so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light within you is darkness, how deep is that darkness!

Let’s strive to know the LORD. His appearance is as sure as the dawn. He will come to us like the rain, like the spring showers that water the land.

The revelation of your words brings light and gives understanding to the inexperienced.

The instruction of the LORD is perfect, renewing one’s life; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise.The precepts of the LORD are right, making the heart glad; the command of the LORD is radiant, making the eyes light up.

Now the Scripture saw in advance that God would justify the Gentiles by faith and proclaimed the gospel ahead of time to Abraham, saying, All the nations will be blessed through you.Consequently, those who have faith are blessed with Abraham, who had faith.For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written, Everyone who does not do everything written in the book of the law is cursed.Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law, because the righteous will live by faith.But the law is not based on faith; instead, the one who does these things will live by them.Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, because it is written, Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.The purpose was that the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles by Christ Jesus, so that we could receive the promised Spirit through faith.Brothers and sisters, I’m using a human illustration. No one sets aside or makes additions to a validated human will.Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say“ and to seeds,” as though referring to many, but referring to one, and to your seed, who is Christ.My point is this: The law, which came 430 years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously established by God and thus cancel the promise.For if the inheritance is based on the law, it is no longer based on the promise; but God has graciously given it to Abraham through the promise.Why, then, was the law given? It was added for the sake of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise was made would come. The law was put into effect through angels by means of a mediator.Now a mediator is not just for one person alone, but God is one.Is the law therefore contrary to God’s promises? Absolutely not! For if the law had been granted with the ability to give life, then righteousness would certainly be on the basis of the law.But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin’s power, so that the promise might be given on the basis of faith in Jesus Christ to those who believe.Before this faith came, we were confined under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith was revealed.The law, then, was our guardian until Christ, so that we could be justified by faith.But since that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian,for through faith you are all sons of God in Christ Jesus.For those of you who were baptized into Christ have been clothed with Christ.There is no Jew or Greek, slave or free, male and female; since you are all one in Christ Jesus.And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to the promise.

The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, shining brighter and brighter until midday.

They worship me in vain, teaching as doctrines human commands.Abandoning the command of God, you hold on to human tradition.”He also said to them,“ You have a fine way of invalidating God’s command in order to set up your tradition!

Jesus answered them,“ You are mistaken, because you don’t know the Scriptures or the power of God.

Claiming to be wise, they became fools

The people here were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, since they received the word with eagerness and examined the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom! Listen to the instruction of our God, you people of Gomorrah!

“ But Abraham said,‘ They have Moses and the prophets; they should listen to them.’“‘ No, father Abraham,’ he said.‘ But if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’“ But he told him,‘ If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be persuaded if someone rises from the dead.’”

Tell me, you who want to be under the law, don’t you hear the law?For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave and the other by a free woman.

The person who lacks these things is blind and shortsighted and has forgotten the cleansing from his past sins.

“ What is written in the law?” he asked him.“ How do you read it?”
