So I sent for Zechariah and Uriah the priest. Zechariah is the son of Jeberekiah. Zechariah and Uriah were witnesses for me whom I could trust.

And I will get reliable witnesses, Uriah the priest and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah, to attest for me.”

I asked Uriah the priest and Zechariah son of Jeberekiah, both known as honest men, to witness my doing this.

I have appointed trustworthy witnesses— the priest Uriah and Zechariah son of Jeberechiah.”

Then King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria. He saw an altar in Damascus and sent to Uriah the priest a sketch of the altar, with detailed plans for its construction.So Uriah the priest built an altar in accordance with all the plans that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus and finished it before King Ahaz returned. I have also acquired Ruth the Moabite, Mahlon’s widow, as my wife, in order to maintain the name of the dead with his property, so that his name will not disappear from among his family or from his hometown. Today you are witnesses!”Then the elders and all the people at the gate said,“ We are witnesses. Splash against this altar the blood of all the burnt offerings and sacrifices. But I will use the bronze altar for seeking guidance.”And Uriah the priest did just as King Ahaz had ordered. (niv)
