Many will stumble over the stone and the rock, and will fall and be seriously injured, and will be ensnared and captured.”

維彼眾人、必躓而顛、被陷害、遭糜爛、

人多必因之躓蹶、顛仆、損折、入機械、陷網羅

Many of them will stumble; they will fall and be broken, they will be snared and captured.”

So the LORD’s word to them will sound like meaningless gibberish, senseless babbling, a syllable here, a syllable there. As a result, they will fall on their backsides when they try to walk, and be injured, ensnared, and captured.

But Jesus looked straight at them and said,“ Then what is the meaning of that which is written:‘ The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone’?Everyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, and the one on whom it falls will be crushed.”

but we preach about a crucified Christ, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.

Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but( as if it were possible) by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone,

Blessed is anyone who takes no offense at me.”

Leave them! They are blind guides. If someone who is blind leads another who is blind, both will fall into a pit.”

After this many of his disciples quit following him and did not accompany him any longer.

We grope along the wall like the blind, we grope like those who cannot see; we stumble at noontime as if it were evening. Though others are strong, we are like dead men.
