He will be a holy place; for both Israel and Judah he will be a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.

Then the Lord will be a holy place of safety for you. But that’s not true for many people in Israel and Judah. He will be a stone that causes them to trip. He will be a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.

And he will become a sanctuary and a stone of offense and a rock of stumbling to both houses of Israel, a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

He will keep you safe. But to Israel and Judah he will be a stone that makes people stumble, a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.

And Simeon blessed them and said to His mother Mary,“ Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and as a sign to be opposed—

Therefore this is what the Lord God says:“ Behold, I am laying a stone in Zion, a tested stone, A precious cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. The one who believes in it will not be disturbed.

Therefore say,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ Though I had removed them far away among the nations, and though I had scattered them among the countries, yet I was a sanctuary for them for a little while in the countries where they had gone.” ’

God is our refuge and strength, A very ready help in trouble.Therefore we will not fear, though the earth shakes And the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;

He will rain coals of fire upon the wicked, And brimstone and burning wind will be the portion of their cup.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe.

And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them,“ A prophet is not dishonored except in his hometown and in his own household.”

May their table before them become a snare; And when they are at peace, may it become a trap.

Or who has first given to Him, that it would be paid back to him?

Come, my people, enter your rooms And close your doors behind you; Hide for a little while Until indignation runs its course.

for it will come upon all those who live on the face of all the earth.

And there will be a shelter to give shade from the heat by day, and refuge and protection from the storm and the rain.

Terror and pit and snare Confront you, you inhabitant of the earth.Then it will be that the one who flees the sound of terror will fall into the pit, And the one who climbs out of the pit will be caught in the snare; For the windows above are opened, and the foundations of the earth shake.

And David says,“ May their table become a snare and a trap, And a stumbling block and a retribution to them.May their eyes be darkened to see not, And bend their backs continually.”I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? Far from it! But by their wrongdoing salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous.
