He will be a holy place; for both Israel and Judah he will be a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.

Then the Lord will be a holy place of safety for you. But that’s not true for many people in Israel and Judah. He will be a stone that causes them to trip. He will be a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.

And he will become a sanctuary and a stone of offense and a rock of stumbling to both houses of Israel, a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

He will keep you safe. But to Israel and Judah he will be a stone that makes people stumble, a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.

He will be a sanctuary; but for the two houses of Israel, he will be a stone to stumble over and a rock to trip over, and a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

也是：「絆腳石和使人跌倒的磐石。」他們跌倒是因為他們不順服真道，這種下場早已註定了。

為什麼會這樣呢？因為他們不憑信心，只靠自己的行為去追求義，結果就在那塊「絆腳石」上跌倒了。正如聖經上說：「看啊！我在錫安放了一塊絆腳石，一塊使人跌倒的磐石。但信靠祂的人必不致蒙羞。」

希緬給他們祝福後，就對孩子的母親瑪麗亞說：「看啊，這孩子必使以色列許多人跌倒、許多人興起。祂將成為眾人攻擊的對象，

所以主耶和華說：「看啊，我要在錫安放一塊基石，一塊經過考驗的石頭，一塊根基穩固的寶貴房角石，信靠的人必不致蒙羞。

因此，你要說，『主耶和華這樣說，我雖然把以色列人趕到遠方各國，分散在列邦，卻要在他們所去的國家暫作他們的聖所。』

上帝是我們的避難所，是我們的力量，是我們患難中隨時的幫助。因此，任大地震動，群山沉入深海；

祂要把烈焰熊熊的火炭和硫磺降在惡人身上，用炙熱的風懲罰他們。

耶和華的名是堅固保障，義人投奔其中就得安穩。

他們就對祂很反感。耶穌對他們說：「先知到處受人尊敬，只有在本鄉本家例外。」

願他們面前的宴席變為網羅，成為他們的陷阱。

誰曾給過祂，等祂償還呢？

我的百姓啊，回到你們的房子裡，關上門躲藏一會兒，等耶和華的憤怒平息。

因為那日子將要這樣臨到世上每一個人。

是白日避暑的亭子，是躲避狂風暴雨的避難所和藏身處。

世人啊！恐怖、陷阱和網羅要臨到你們。逃避恐怖的必掉進陷阱，從陷阱爬上來的必被網羅纏住。天上的水閘開啟，大地的根基搖動。

大衛也說：「願他們的宴席成為網羅、陷阱、絆腳石，給他們帶來報應；願他們眼目昏暗，無法看見，永遠彎腰駝背。」那麼，以色列人一失足就再也爬不起來了嗎？當然不是！恰好相反，因他們的過犯，救恩臨到了外族人，使他們心生嫉妒。
