For Jehovah spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,

This is what the Lord says to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people:

The Lord speaks to me while his powerful hand is on me. He is warning me not to live the way these people live. He says,

The Lord has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does. He said,

For this is what the LORD said to me with great power, to keep me from going the way of this people:

My son, walk not thou in the way with them; Refrain thy foot from their path:

And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear; for they are most rebellious.But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that which I give thee.

Therefore thus saith Jehovah, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, that thou mayest stand before me; and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: they shall return unto thee, but thou shalt not return unto them.

O Jehovah, thou hast persuaded me, and I was persuaded; thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am become a laughing- stock all the day, every one mocketh me.

for we cannot but speak the things which we saw and heard.

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will counsel thee with mine eye upon thee.

And if I say, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name, then there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with forbearing, and I cannot contain.
