Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying, (niv)

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (niv)

Whatever they plot against the Lord he will bring to an end; trouble will not come a second time.They will be entangled among thorns and drunk from their wine; they will be consumed like dry stubble.From you, Nineveh, has one come forth who plots evil against the Lord and devises wicked plans.This is what the Lord says:“ Although they have allies and are numerous, they will be destroyed and pass away. Although I have afflicted you, Judah, I will afflict you no more. (niv)

This plan seemed good to Absalom and to all the elders of Israel. (niv)

He took the image he had made and put it in God’s temple, of which God had said to David and to his son Solomon,“ In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my Name forever.I will not again make the feet of the Israelites leave the land I assigned to your ancestors, if only they will be careful to do everything I commanded them concerning all the laws, decrees and regulations given through Moses.” (niv)
