Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing?The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, saying,

What do ye devise against Jehovah? he will make a full end; affliction shall not rise up the second time.For entangled like thorns, and drunken as with their drink, they are consumed utterly as dry stubble.There is one gone forth out of thee, that deviseth evil against Jehovah, that counselleth wickedness.Thus saith Jehovah: Though they be in full strength, and likewise many, even so shall they be cut down, and he shall pass away. And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.

And he set the graven image of the idol, which he had made, in the house of God, of which God said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from off the land which I have appointed for your fathers, if only they will observe to do all that I have commanded them, even all the law and the statutes and the ordinances given by Moses.
