没有信心的人不能得到上帝的喜悦，因为来到上帝面前的人必须相信上帝存在，并相信祂会赏赐一切寻求祂的人。

第二天清晨，众人起来去提哥亚的旷野。他们出发的时候，约沙法站着说：“犹大人和耶路撒冷的居民啊，请听我说！要信靠你们的上帝耶和华，你们就必坚立；要相信祂的先知，你们就必得胜。”

暗利用了六十八公斤银子向撒玛买了撒玛利亚山，在上面建了一座城，按原来主人撒玛的名字称之为撒玛利亚。暗利做耶和华视为恶的事，比以前的诸王更坏。他步尼八的儿子耶罗波安的后尘，使以色列人陷入罪中，祭拜假神，惹以色列的上帝耶和华发怒。暗利其他的事及其一切所作所为都记在以色列的列王史上。暗利与祖先同眠后葬在撒玛利亚，他儿子亚哈继位。亚撒做犹大王第三十八年，暗利的儿子亚哈登基做以色列王，他在撒玛利亚执政二十二年。

“因为这些人拒绝接受我如西罗亚河缓缓流水般的温柔照顾，反倒因与利迅和利玛利的儿子结盟而欢喜，我要差来亚述王的军队，使他们像幼发拉底河的洪流一样汹涌而来，淹没一切水道，漫过河岸，席卷犹大，使整个犹大几遭灭顶之灾。他必展开双翼横扫你的土地。”愿上帝与我们同在！

但那百夫长只相信船主和舵手的话，不接受保罗的劝告。
