“ Ask the Lord your God for a sign, whether in the deepest depths or in the highest heights.”

“ I am the Lord your God. Ask me to give you a sign. It can be anything in the deepest grave or in the highest heaven.”

“ Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven.”

“ Ask the Lord your God for a sign of confirmation, Ahaz. Make it as difficult as you want— as high as heaven or as deep as the place of the dead.”

“ Ask for a confirming sign from the LORD your God. You can even ask for something miraculous.”

“ Ask a sign of Yahweh your God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.”

This is the sign to you from the Lord that He will do what He has promised:I am going to make the sun’s shadow that goes down on Ahaz’s stairway go back by 10 steps.” So the sun’s shadow went back the 10 steps it had descended.

“‘ This will be the sign for you: This year you will eat what grows on its own, and in the second year what grows from that. But in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

When you have finished reading this scroll, tie a stone to it and throw it into the middle of the Euphrates River.Then say,‘ In the same way, Babylon will sink and never rise again because of the disaster I am bringing on her. They will grow weary.’” The words of Jeremiah end here.

And Hezekiah had asked,“ What is the sign that I will go up to the Lord’s temple?”

The Pharisees and Sadducees approached, and as a test, asked Him to show them a sign from heaven.He answered them:“ When evening comes you say,‘ It will be good weather because the sky is red.’And in the morning,‘ Today will be stormy because the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to read the appearance of the sky, but you can’t read the signs of the times.An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” Then He left them and went away.

“ Then you are to shatter the jar in the presence of the people traveling with you,

Then Gideon said to God,“ If You will deliver Israel by my hand, as You said,I will put a fleece of wool here on the threshing floor. If dew is only on the fleece, and all the ground is dry, I will know that You will deliver Israel by my strength, as You said.”And that is what happened. When he got up early in the morning, he squeezed the fleece and wrung dew out of it, filling a bowl with water.Gideon then said to God,“ Don’t be angry with me; let me speak one more time. Please allow me to make one more test with the fleece. Let it remain dry, and the dew be all over the ground.”That night God did as Gideon requested: only the fleece was dry, and dew was all over the ground.

This is what the Lord says:“ Go, buy a potter’s clay jar. Take some of the elders of the people and some of the leading priests

Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him,“ Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”But He answered them,“ An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.For as Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.

“ This will be the sign for you: This year you will eat what grows on its own, and in the second year what grows from that. But in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

Hezekiah had asked Isaiah,“ What is the sign that the Lord will heal me and that I will go up to the Lord’s temple on the third day?”Isaiah said,“ This is the sign to you from the Lord that He will do what He has promised: Should the shadow go ahead 10 steps or go back 10 steps?”Then Hezekiah answered,“ It’s easy for the shadow to lengthen 10 steps. No, let the shadow go back 10 steps.”So Isaiah the prophet called out to the Lord, and He brought the shadow back the 10 steps it had descended on Ahaz’s stairway.
