My hands have made both heaven and earth; they and everything in them are mine. I, the Lord, have spoken!“ I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word.

Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the Lord.“ These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.

Didn’t I make everything by my power? That is how all things were created,” announces the Lord.“ The people I value are not proud. They are sorry for the wrong things they have done. They have great respect for what I say.

All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the Lord. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.

For all those things My hand has made, And all those things exist,” Says the Lord.“ But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word.

For all these things hath my hand made, and so all these things came to be, saith Jehovah: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and that trembleth at my word.

My hand made them; that is how they came to be,” says the LORD. I show special favor to the humble and contrite, who respect what I have to say.

The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this:“ I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.

“ God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

You were sorry and humbled yourself before God when you heard his words against this city and its people. You humbled yourself and tore your clothing in despair and wept before me in repentance. And I have indeed heard you, says the Lord.So I will not send the promised disaster until after you have died and been buried in peace. You yourself will not see the disaster I am going to bring on this city and its people.’” So they took her message back to the king.

Then all who trembled at the words of the God of Israel came and sat with me because of this outrage committed by the returned exiles. And I sat there utterly appalled until the time of the evening sacrifice.

Though the Lord is great, he cares for the humble, but he keeps his distance from the proud.

I tremble in fear of you; I stand in awe of your regulations. Ayin

“ But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying,‘ O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.’I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home justified before God. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Blessed are those who fear to do wrong, but the stubborn are headed for serious trouble.

Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear.

Hear this message from the Lord, all you who tremble at his words:“ Your own people hate you and throw you out for being loyal to my name.‘ Let the Lord be honored!’ they scoff.‘ Be joyful in him!’ But they will be put to shame.

Let us now make a covenant with our God to divorce our pagan wives and to send them away with their children. We will follow the advice given by you and by the others who respect the commands of our God. Let it be done according to the Law of God.

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.

I trembled inside when I heard this; my lips quivered with fear. My legs gave way beneath me, and I shook in terror. I will wait quietly for the coming day when disaster will strike the people who invade us.

You were sorry and humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I said against this city and its people— that this land would be cursed and become desolate. You tore your clothing in despair and wept before me in repentance. And I have indeed heard you, says the Lord.So I will not send the promised disaster until after you have died and been buried in peace. You will not see the disaster I am going to bring on this city.’” So they took her message back to the king.

The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas.Then he brought them out and asked,“ Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

I turned away from God, but then I was sorry. I kicked myself for my stupidity! I was thoroughly ashamed of all I did in my younger days.’“ Is not Israel still my son, my darling child?” says the Lord.“ I often have to punish him, but I still love him. That’s why I long for him and surely will have mercy on him.

He said to him,“ Walk through the streets of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of all who weep and sigh because of the detestable sins being committed in their city.”Then I heard the Lord say to the other men,“ Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity!Kill them all— old and young, girls and women and little children. But do not touch anyone with the mark. Begin right here at the Temple.” So they began by killing the seventy leaders.

Powerful people harass me without cause, but my heart trembles only at your word.

Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing.

Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.Then God said,“ Let there be light,” and there was light.And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness.God called the light“ day” and the darkness“ night.” And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day.Then God said,“ Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.”And that is what happened. God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens.God called the space“ sky.” And evening passed and morning came, marking the second day.Then God said,“ Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear.” And that is what happened.God called the dry ground“ land” and the waters“ seas.” And God saw that it was good.Then God said,“ Let the land sprout with vegetation— every sort of seed bearing plant, and trees that grow seed bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.” And that is what happened.The land produced vegetation— all sorts of seed bearing plants, and trees with seed bearing fruit. Their seeds produced plants and trees of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.And evening passed and morning came, marking the third day.Then God said,“ Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years.Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth.” And that is what happened.God made two great lights— the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars.God set these lights in the sky to light the earth,to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.And evening passed and morning came, marking the fourth day.Then God said,“ Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.”So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird— each producing offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.Then God blessed them, saying,“ Be fruitful and multiply. Let the fish fill the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.”And evening passed and morning came, marking the fifth day.Then God said,“ Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind— livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild animals.” And that is what happened.God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.Then God said,“ Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.Then God blessed them and said,“ Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”Then God said,“ Look! I have given you every seed bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food.And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground— everything that has life.” And that is what happened.Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.

He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.
