My hand made all these things, and so they all came into being. This is the LORD’s declaration. I will look favorably on this kind of person: one who is humble, submissive in spirit, and trembles at my word.

主曰、此諸物皆我手所造、此諸物皆我使有、凡困苦者、心憂傷者、敬畏我名者、我必眷顧、

Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the Lord.“ These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.

Didn’t I make everything by my power? That is how all things were created,” announces the Lord.“ The people I value are not proud. They are sorry for the wrong things they have done. They have great respect for what I say.

All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the Lord. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.

My hands have made both heaven and earth; they and everything in them are mine. I, the Lord, have spoken!“ I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word.

For all those[ things] hath mine hand made, and all those[ things] have been, saith the LORD: but to this[ man] will I look,[ even] to[ him that is] poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

My hand made them; that is how they came to be,” says the LORD. I show special favor to the humble and contrite, who respect what I have to say.

For the High and Exalted One, who lives forever, whose name is holy, says this:“ I live in a high and holy place, and with the oppressed and lowly of spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and revive the heart of the oppressed.

The LORD is near the brokenhearted; he saves those crushed in spirit.

The sacrifice pleasing to God is a broken spirit. You will not despise a broken and humbled heart, God.

“ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before God when you heard his words against this place and against its inhabitants, and because you humbled yourself before me, and you tore your clothes and wept before me, I myself have heard’— this is the LORD’s declaration.‘ I will indeed gather you to your ancestors, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not see all the disaster that I am bringing on this place and on its inhabitants.’” Then they reported to the king.

Everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel gathered around me, because of the unfaithfulness of the exiles, while I sat devastated until the evening offering.

Though the LORD is exalted, he takes note of the humble; but he knows the haughty from a distance.

I tremble in awe of you; I fear your judgments.

“ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even raise his eyes to heaven but kept striking his chest and saying,‘ God, have mercy on me, a sinner!’I tell you, this one went down to his house justified rather than the other, because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Happy is the one who is always reverent, but one who hardens his heart falls into trouble.

Therefore, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, so now, not only in my presence but even more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

You who tremble at his word, hear the word of the LORD:“ Your brothers who hate and exclude you for my name’s sake have said,‘ Let the LORD be glorified so that we can see your joy!’ But they will be put to shame.”

Therefore, let’s make a covenant before our God to send away all the foreign wives and their children, according to the counsel of my lord and of those who tremble at the command of our God. Let it be done according to the law.

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners;

I heard, and I trembled within; my lips quivered at the sound. Rottenness entered my bones; I trembled where I stood. Now I must quietly wait for the day of distress to come against the people invading us.

because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before the LORD when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they would become a desolation and a curse, and because you have torn your clothes and wept before me, I myself have heard’— this is the LORD’s declaration.‘ Therefore, I will indeed gather you to your ancestors, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. The jailer called for lights, rushed in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas.He escorted them out and said,“ Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

After my return, I felt regret; After I was instructed, I struck my thigh in grief. I was ashamed and humiliated because I bore the disgrace of my youth.”Isn’t Ephraim a precious son to me, a delightful child? Whenever I speak against him, I certainly still think about him. Therefore, my inner being yearns for him; I will truly have compassion on him. This is the LORD’s declaration.

“ Pass throughout the city of Jerusalem,” the LORD said to him,“ and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the detestable practices committed in it.”He spoke to the others in my hearing:“ Pass through the city after him and start killing; do not show pity or spare them!Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, as well as the children and older women, but do not come near anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were in front of the temple.

Princes have persecuted me without cause, but my heart fears only your word.

Look up and see! Who created these? He brings out the stars by number; he calls all of them by name. Because of his great power and strength, not one of them is missing.

“ But get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

In these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son. God has appointed him heir of all things and made the universe through him.The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of his nature, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.Then God said,“ Let there be light,” and there was light.God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness.God called the light“ day,” and the darkness he called“ night.” There was an evening, and there was a morning: one day.Then God said,“ Let there be an expanse between the waters, separating water from water.”So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above the expanse. And it was so.God called the expanse“ sky.” Evening came and then morning: the second day.Then God said,“ Let the water under the sky be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so.God called the dry land“ earth,” and the gathering of the water he called“ seas.” And God saw that it was good.Then God said,“ Let the earth produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds.” And it was so.The earth produced vegetation: seed-bearing plants according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.Evening came and then morning: the third day.Then God said,“ Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night. They will serve as signs for seasons and for days and years.They will be lights in the expanse of the sky to provide light on the earth.” And it was so.God made the two great lights— the greater light to rule over the day and the lesser light to rule over the night— as well as the stars.God placed them in the expanse of the sky to provide light on the earth,to rule the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.Evening came and then morning: the fourth day.Then God said,“ Let the water swarm with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.”So God created the large sea-creatures and every living creature that moves and swarms in the water, according to their kinds. He also created every winged creature according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.God blessed them:“ Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the waters of the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.”Evening came and then morning: the fifth day.Then God said,“ Let the earth produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that crawl, and the wildlife of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.So God made the wildlife of the earth according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that crawl on the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.Then God said,“ Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth.”So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female.God blessed them, and God said to them,“ Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every creature that crawls on the earth.”God also said,“ Look, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the surface of the entire earth and every tree whose fruit contains seed. This will be food for you,for all the wildlife of the earth, for every bird of the sky, and for every creature that crawls on the earth— everything having the breath of life in it— I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.God saw all that he had made, and it was very good indeed. Evening came and then morning: the sixth day.

He is before all things, and by him all things hold together.
