who sit among the graves and spend their nights keeping secret vigil; who eat the flesh of pigs, and whose pots hold broth of impure meat;

They sit among the graves. They spend their nights talking to the spirits of the dead. They eat the meat of pigs. Their cooking pots hold soup that has‘ unclean’ meat in it.

At night they go out among the graves, worshiping the dead. They eat the flesh of pigs and make stews with other forbidden foods.

“ Those who sanctify and purify themselves to go to the gardens, Following one in the center, Who eat pig’s flesh, detestable things, and mice, Will come to an end altogether,” declares the Lord.

And the pig, for though it has a divided hoof, and so it shows a split hoof, it does not chew cud; it is unclean to you.

“ But the one who slaughters an ox is like one who kills a person; The one who sacrifices a lamb is like one who breaks a dog’s neck; One who offers a grain offering is like one who offers pig’s blood; One who burns incense is like one who blesses an idol. As they have chosen their own ways, And their souls delight in their abominations,

When He got out of the boat, immediately a man from the tombs with an unclean spirit met Him.He lived among the tombs; and no one was able to bind him anymore, not even with a chain,because he had often been bound with shackles and chains, and the chains had been torn apart by him and the shackles broken in pieces; and no one was strong enough to subdue him.Constantly, night and day, he was screaming among the tombs and in the mountains, and cutting himself with stones.

And when He came to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, two demon possessed men confronted Him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so extremely violent that no one could pass by that way.

“ You shall bring the choice first fruits of your soil into the house of the Lord your God.“ You are not to boil a young goat in the milk of its mother.

“ You shall not eat any detestable thing.

But I said,“ Oh, Lord God! Behold, I have never been defiled; for from my youth until now I have never eaten what died of itself or was torn by animals, nor has any unclean meat ever entered my mouth!”

“ You shall bring the very first of the first fruits of your soil into the house of the Lord your God.“ You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.”

“ You shall not eat anything which dies of itself. You may give it to the stranger who is in your town, so that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a stranger; for you are a holy people to the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.

Also, anyone who in the open field touches one who has been killed with a sword or one who has died naturally, or touches a human bone or a grave, will be unclean for seven days.Then for the unclean person they shall take some of the ashes of the burnt purification from sin and running water shall be added to them in a container.And a clean person shall take hyssop and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it on the tent, on all the furnishings, on the persons who were there, and on the one who touched the bone or the one who was killed or the one who died naturally, or the grave.Then the clean person shall sprinkle on the unclean on the third day and on the seventh day; and on the seventh day he shall purify him, and he shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and will be clean by evening.‘ But the person who is unclean and does not purify himself, that person shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, because he has defiled the sanctuary of the Lord; the water for impurity has not been sprinkled on him, so he is unclean.

And the pig, because it has a divided hoof but does not chew the cud, it is unclean for you. You shall not eat any of their flesh, nor touch their carcasses.

or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who consults the dead.

And when He stepped out onto the land, a man from the city met Him who was possessed with demons; and he had not put on clothing for a long time and was not living in a house, but among the tombs.

‘ The one who touches the dead body of any person will also be unclean for seven days.
