All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

All of us have become like someone who is“ unclean.” All the good things we do are like dirty rags to you. All of us are like leaves that have dried up. Our sins sweep us away like the wind.

We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind.

For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me, but to do that which is good is not.

Wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me out of the body of this death?

How then can man be just with God? Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: In the morning they are like grass which groweth up.In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; In the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the angel.

And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, These that are arrayed in the white robes, who are they, and whence came they?

Hearken unto me, ye stout- hearted, that are far from righteousness:

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of hosts.

And he said, This is Wickedness: and he cast her down into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there came forth two women, and the wind was in their wings; now they had wings like the wings of a stork; and they lifted up the ephah between earth and heaven.Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah?And he said unto me, To build her a house in the land of Shinar: and when it is prepared, she shall be set there in her own place.

The wind hath wrapped her up in its wings; and they shall be put to shame because of their sacrifices.

Behold, I am of small account; What shall I answer thee? I lay my hand upon my mouth.

Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah; who swear by the name of Jehovah, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness

The wicked are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

I will declare thy righteousness; and as for thy works, they shall not profit thee.When thou criest, let them that thou hast gathered deliver thee; but the wind shall take them, a breath shall carry them all away: but he that taketh refuge in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain.

and the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.For the sun ariseth with the scorching wind, and withereth the grass; and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his goings.

For, All flesh is as grass, And all the glory thereof as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower falleth:But the word of the Lord abideth for ever. And this is the word of good tidings which was preached unto you.
