You welcome those who gladly do good, who follow godly ways. But you have been very angry with us, for we are not godly. We are constant sinners; how can people like us be saved?

歡然為善、行主道並念主者、主以恩迎接之、惟我犯罪、故主震怒、如此之景象已久、我尚能得救乎、

You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways. But when we continued to sin against them, you were angry. How then can we be saved?

You come to help those who enjoy doing what is right. You help those who thank you for teaching them how to live. But when we continued to disobey you, you became angry with us. So how can we be saved?

You meet him who joyfully works righteousness, those who remember you in your ways. Behold, you were angry, and we sinned; in our sins we have been a long time, and shall we be saved?

“ Build for me an altar made of earth, and offer your sacrifices to me— your burnt offerings and peace offerings, your sheep and goats, and your cattle. Build my altar wherever I cause my name to be remembered, and I will come to you and bless you.

“ I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed.

No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you.

He was a devout, God fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God.One afternoon about three o’clock, he had a vision in which he saw an angel of God coming toward him.“ Cornelius!” the angel said.Cornelius stared at him in terror.“ What is it, sir?” he asked the angel. And the angel replied,“ Your prayers and gifts to the poor have been received by God as an offering!

This is what the Lord says:“ Be just and fair to all. Do what is right and good, for I am coming soon to rescue you and to display my righteousness among you.Blessed are all those who are careful to do this. Blessed are those who honor my Sabbath days of rest and keep themselves from doing wrong.“ Don’t let foreigners who commit themselves to the Lord say,‘ The Lord will never let me be part of his people.’ And don’t let the eunuchs say,‘ I’m a dried up tree with no children and no future.’For this is what the Lord says: I will bless those eunuchs who keep my Sabbath days holy and who choose to do what pleases me and commit their lives to me.I will give them— within the walls of my house— a memorial and a name far greater than sons and daughters could give. For the name I give them is an everlasting one. It will never disappear!“ I will also bless the foreigners who commit themselves to the Lord, who serve him and love his name, who worship him and do not desecrate the Sabbath day of rest, and who hold fast to my covenant.I will bring them to my holy mountain of Jerusalem and will fill them with joy in my house of prayer. I will accept their burnt offerings and sacrifices, because my Temple will be called a house of prayer for all nations.

The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands.

Place the incense altar just outside the inner curtain that shields the Ark of the Covenant, in front of the Ark’s cover— the place of atonement— that covers the tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant. I will meet with you there.

“ These burnt offerings are to be made each day from generation to generation. Offer them in the Lord’s presence at the Tabernacle entrance; there I will meet with you and speak with you.I will meet the people of Israel there, in the place made holy by my glorious presence.

But they rebelled against him and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he became their enemy and fought against them.

Oh, that we might know the Lord! Let us press on to know him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.”

“ Oh, how can I give you up, Israel? How can I let you go? How can I destroy you like Admah or demolish you like Zeboiim? My heart is torn within me, and my compassion overflows.

But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children

In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.

I will meet with you there and talk to you from above the atonement cover between the gold cherubim that hover over the Ark of the Covenant. From there I will give you my commands for the people of Israel.

Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify your name.In the night I search for you; in the morning I earnestly seek you. For only when you come to judge the earth will people learn what is right.

I have heard Israel saying,‘ You disciplined me severely, like a calf that needs training for the yoke. Turn me again to you and restore me, for you alone are the Lord my God.I turned away from God, but then I was sorry. I kicked myself for my stupidity! I was thoroughly ashamed of all I did in my younger days.’“ Is not Israel still my son, my darling child?” says the Lord.“ I often have to punish him, but I still love him. That’s why I long for him and surely will have mercy on him.

Praise the Lord! How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying his commands.

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
