Yes, I am aware of their suffering.So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk and honey— the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live.Look! The cry of the people of Israel has reached me, and I have seen how harshly the Egyptians abuse them.

Our ancestors in Egypt were not impressed by the Lord’s miraculous deeds. They soon forgot his many acts of kindness to them. Instead, they rebelled against him at the Red Sea.Even so, he saved them— to defend the honor of his name and to demonstrate his mighty power.He commanded the Red Sea to dry up. He led Israel across the sea as if it were a desert.So he rescued them from their enemies and redeemed them from their foes.

the Angel who has redeemed me from all harm— may he bless these boys. May they preserve my name and the names of Abraham and Isaac. And may their descendants multiply greatly throughout the earth.”

So he took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering in place of his son.Abraham named the place Yahweh Yireh( which means“ the Lord will provide”). To this day, people still use that name as a proverb:“ On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”Then the angel of the Lord called again to Abraham from heaven.“ This is what the Lord says: Because you have obeyed me and have not withheld even your son, your only son, I swear by my own name thatI will certainly bless you. I will multiply your descendants beyond number, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will conquer the cities of their enemies.

He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.

Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.

This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.

“ Listen to me, descendants of Jacob, all you who remain in Israel. I have cared for you since you were born. Yes, I carried you before you were born.I will be your God throughout your lifetime— until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.

Moses was with our ancestors, the assembly of God’s people in the wilderness, when the angel spoke to him at Mount Sinai. And there Moses received life giving words to pass on to us.

He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him,“ Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?”

And they sang a new song with these words:“ You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.

Nor should we put Christ to the test, as some of them did and then died from snakebites.
