to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,

He has sent me to announce the year when he will set his people free. He wants me to announce the day when he will pay his enemies back. Our God has sent me to comfort all those who are sad.

He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.

to announce the year when the LORD will show his favor, the day when our God will seek vengeance, to console all who mourn,

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

For Yahweh has a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.

I have seen his ways, and will heal him. I will lead him also, and restore comforts to him and to his mourners.

Then the virgin will rejoice in the dance; the young men and the old together; for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

“ For, behold, the day comes, it burns as a furnace; and all the proud, and all who work wickedness, will be stubble; and the day that comes will burn them up,” says Yahweh of Armies,“ that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.But to you who fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings. You will go out, and leap like calves of the stall.You shall tread down the wicked; for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I make,” says Yahweh of Armies.

Then you shall sound the loud trumpet on the tenth day of the seventh month. On the Day of Atonement you shall sound the trumpet throughout all your land.You shall make the fiftieth year holy, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee to you; and each of you shall return to his own property, and each of you shall return to his family.That fiftieth year shall be a jubilee to you. In it you shall not sow, neither reap that which grows of itself, nor gather from the undressed vines.For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy to you. You shall eat of its increase out of the field.“‘ In this Year of Jubilee each of you shall return to his property.

Turning to the woman, he said to Simon,“ Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head.You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet.You didn’t anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.”He said to her,“ Your sins are forgiven.”Those who sat at the table with him began to say to themselves,“ Who is this who even forgives sins?”He said to the woman,“ Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head. He put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a mantle.According to their deeds, he will repay as appropriate, wrath to his adversaries, recompense to his enemies; he will repay the islands their due.

forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, to fill up their sins always. But wrath has come on them to the uttermost.

Most certainly I tell you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.A woman, when she gives birth, has sorrow because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she doesn’t remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a human being is born into the world.Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

for he says,“ At an acceptable time I listened to you. In a day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is the acceptable time. Behold, now is the day of salvation.

and to give relief to you who are afflicted with us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire,punishing those who don’t know God, and to those who don’t obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus,who will pay the penalty: eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might,

Who is this who comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? Who is this who is glorious in his clothing, marching in the greatness of his strength?“ It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.”Why is your clothing red, and your garments like him who treads in the wine vat?“ I have trodden the wine press alone. Of the peoples, no one was with me. Yes, I trod them in my anger and trampled them in my wrath. Their lifeblood is sprinkled on my garments, and I have stained all my clothing.For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed has come.I looked, and there was no one to help; and I wondered that there was no one to uphold. Therefore my own arm brought salvation to me. My own wrath upheld me.I trod down the peoples in my anger and made them drunk in my wrath. I poured their lifeblood out on the earth.”

Yahweh says,“ I have answered you in an acceptable time. I have helped you in a day of salvation. I will preserve you and give you for a covenant of the people, to raise up the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritage,

For that day is of the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge himself of his adversaries. The sword will devour and be satiated, and will drink its fill of their blood; for the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.

Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.

Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.

who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.For as the sufferings of Christ abound to us, even so our comfort also abounds through Christ.

For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who nurse infants in those days! For there will be great distress in the land, and wrath to this people.They will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

You will see it, and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones will flourish like the tender grass. Yahweh’s hand will be known among his servants; and he will have indignation against his enemies.

He has swallowed up death forever! The Lord Yahweh will wipe away tears from off all faces. He will take the reproach of his people away from off all the earth, for Yahweh has spoken it.

“ Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you who love her. Rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn over her;that you may nurse and be satisfied at the comforting breasts; that you may drink deeply, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.”For Yahweh says,“ Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream; and you will nurse. You will be carried on her side, and will be dandled on her knees.

Tell those who have a fearful heart,“ Be strong! Don’t be afraid! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, God’s retribution. He will come and save you.

The Lord is at your right hand. He will crush kings in the day of his wrath.He will judge among the nations. He will heap up dead bodies. He will crush the ruler of the whole earth.
