You will be called priests of the Lord, ministers of our God. You will feed on the treasures of the nations and boast in their riches.

But in the end her profits will be given to the Lord. Her wealth will not be hoarded but will provide good food and fine clothing for the Lord’s priests.

As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.For God says,“ At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the“ right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.We live in such a way that no one will stumble because of us, and no one will find fault with our ministry.In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We patiently endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind.We have been beaten, been put in prison, faced angry mobs, worked to exhaustion, endured sleepless nights, and gone without food.We prove ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness, by the Holy Spirit within us, and by our sincere love.We faithfully preach the truth. God’s power is working in us. We use the weapons of righteousness in the right hand for attack and the left hand for defense.We serve God whether people honor us or despise us, whether they slander us or praise us. We are honest, but they call us impostors.We are ignored, even though we are well known. We live close to death, but we are still alive. We have been beaten, but we have not been killed.Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything.Oh, dear Corinthian friends! We have spoken honestly with you, and our hearts are open to you.There is no lack of love on our part, but you have withheld your love from us.I am asking you to respond as if you were my own children. Open your hearts to us!

O nations of the world, recognize the Lord; recognize that the Lord is glorious and strong.Give to the Lord the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his courts.Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor. Let all the earth tremble before him.

Your gates will stay open day and night to receive the wealth of many lands. The kings of the world will be led as captives in a victory procession.

The Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles, too.

“ Enlarge your house; build an addition. Spread out your home, and spare no expense!

But all who are left shout and sing for joy. Those in the west praise the Lord’s majesty.In eastern lands, give glory to the Lord. In the lands beyond the sea, praise the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

“ After several years away, I returned to Jerusalem with money to aid my people and to offer sacrifices to God.

And since God gave these Gentiles the same gift he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to stand in God’s way?”

Then Hannah prayed:“ My heart rejoices in the Lord! The Lord has made me strong. Now I have an answer for my enemies; I rejoice because you rescued me.

For you see, the believers in Macedonia and Achaia have eagerly taken up an offering for the poor among the believers in Jerusalem.

“ Yet the time will come when Israel’s people will be like the sands of the seashore— too many to count! Then, at the place where they were told,‘ You are not my people,’ it will be said,‘ You are children of the living God.’Then the people of Judah and Israel will unite together. They will choose one leader for themselves, and they will return from exile together. What a day that will be— the day of Jezreel— when God will again plant his people in his land.

I want you to understand this mystery, dear brothers and sisters, so that you will not feel proud about yourselves. Some of the people of Israel have hard hearts, but this will last only until the full number of Gentiles comes to Christ.

Then this city will bring me joy, glory, and honor before all the nations of the earth! The people of the world will see all the good I do for my people, and they will tremble with awe at the peace and prosperity I provide for them.

Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise! Let the earth and all living things join in.Let the rivers clap their hands in glee! Let the hills sing out their songs of joybefore the Lord, for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice, and the nations with fairness.

But afterward the people will return and devote themselves to the Lord their God and to David’s descendant, their king. In the last days, they will tremble in awe of the Lord and of his goodness.

Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.

And all the nations will bring their glory and honor into the city.

Nor do we boast and claim credit for the work someone else has done. Instead, we hope that your faith will grow so that the boundaries of our work among you will be extended.
