But yet in it[ shall be] a tenth, and[ it] shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance[ is] in them, when they cast[ their leaves: so] the holy seed[ shall be] the substance thereof.

And though a tenth remains in the land, it will again be laid waste. But as the terebinth and oak leave stumps when they are cut down, so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.”

Suppose only a tenth of the people remain there. Even then the land will be completely destroyed again. But when oak trees and terebinth trees are cut down, stumps are left. And my holy people will be like stumps that begin to grow again.”

If even a tenth— a remnant— survive, it will be invaded again and burned. But as a terebinth or oak tree leaves a stump when it is cut down, so Israel’s stump will be a holy seed.”

For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;[ Yet] through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.

Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.And if by grace, then[ is it] no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if[ it be] of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom,[ and] we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.And if ye[ be] Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of[ those] lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.

For if the firstfruit[ be] holy, the lump[ is] also[ holy]: and if the root[ be] holy, so[ are] the branches.And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:For if God spared not the natural branches,[ take heed] lest he also spare not thee.Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in[ his] goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural[ branches], be graffed into their own olive tree?For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:For this[ is] my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.As concerning the gospel,[ they are] enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election,[ they are] beloved for the fathers’ sakes.For the gifts and calling of God[ are] without repentance.

And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.And this I say,[ that] the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.For if the inheritance[ be] of the law,[ it is] no more of promise: but God gave[ it] to Abraham by promise.Wherefore then[ serveth] the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made;[ and it was] ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

And it shall come to pass in that day,[ that] the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.The remnant shall return,[ even] the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea,[ yet] a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.

And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect’s sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and[ one] saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing[ is] in it: so will I do for my servants’ sakes, that I may not destroy them all.And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.

Whose[ are] the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ[ came], who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every[ branch] that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

And it shall come to pass,[ that he that is] left in Zion, and[ he that] remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy,[ even] every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem:
