He put on righteousness as his breastplate, and the helmet of salvation on his head; he put on the garments of vengeance and wrapped himself in zeal as in a cloak.

He will put the armor of holiness on his chest. He’ll put the helmet of salvation on his head. He’ll pay people back for the wrong things they do. He’ll wrap himself in anger as if it were a coat.

Righteousness will be a belt around his hips; faithfulness will be a belt around his waist.

because zeal for your house has consumed me, and the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.

I clothed myself in righteousness, and it enveloped me; my just decisions were like a robe and a turban.

The dominion will be vast, and its prosperity will never end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from now on and forever. The zeal of the LORD of Armies will accomplish this.

Vengeance and retribution belong to me. In time their foot will slip, for their day of disaster is near, and their doom is coming quickly.”The LORD will indeed vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants when he sees that their strength is gone and no one is left— slave or free.He will say,“ Where are their gods, the‘ rock’ they found refuge in?Who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them rise up and help you; let it be a shelter for you.See now that I alone am he; there is no God but me. I bring death and I give life; I wound and I heal. He will take vengeance on his adversaries; he will purify his land and his people.

by the word of truth, by the power of God; through weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left,

I trampled the winepress alone, and no one from the nations was with me. I trampled them in my anger and ground them underfoot in my fury; their blood spattered my garments, and all my clothes were stained.

Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True, and with justice he judges and makes war.

Look down from heaven and see from your lofty home— holy and beautiful. Where is your zeal and your might? Your yearning and your compassion are withheld from me.

So the angel who was speaking with me said,“ Proclaim: The LORD of Armies says: I am extremely jealous for Jerusalem and Zion.

when he takes vengeance with flaming fire on those who don’t know God and on those who don’t obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

LORD, God of vengeance— God of vengeance, shine!
