我們犯了罪，行事扭曲，作惡背叛，偏離了你的誡命和法規，沒有聽從你的僕人眾先知——他們奉你的名向我們的君王們、首領們、祖先們和這地所有的子民說話。「主啊，公義在於你；至於我們猶大人、耶路撒冷的居民，以及你驅趕到遠近各地的全體以色列人，因為對你行事不忠，都滿面羞恥，就像今天這樣！耶和華啊，我們和我們的君王們、首領們、祖先們都滿面羞恥，因為我們對你犯了罪！

這些猶太人不但殺了主耶穌和先知們，也驅逐了我們，並且不討神的喜悅，又與所有的人作對，阻止我們向外邦人傳道使外邦人得救。這樣，他們常常積滿自己的罪孽，而神的震怒在最後臨到了他們身上！

你們去充滿你們祖先的惡貫吧！「你們這些蛇類，這些毒蛇的子孫！你們怎麼能逃避地獄的懲罰呢？

我們知道，律法上的一切話都是對律法之下的人講的，好堵住每個人的口，使全世界的人都在神的審判之下有罪，因為沒有一個人本於律法上的行為在神面前被稱為義；原來，藉著律法，只能對罪有真正的認識。
