[ Is it] not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

Share your food with hungry people. Provide homeless people with a place to stay. Give naked people clothes to wear. Provide for the needs of your own family.

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?

Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help.

If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:

And[ if] thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness[ be] as the noonday:

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them;[ and] them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

Take counsel, execute judgment; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; bewray not him that wandereth.Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a covert to them from the face of the spoiler: for the extortioner is at an end, the spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.

But this[ I say], He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.Every man according as he purposeth in his heart,[ so let him give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.And God[ is] able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all[ things], may abound to every good work:( As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for[ your] food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you.

Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.

Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.

Yet now our flesh[ is] as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and[ some] of our daughters are brought unto bondage[ already]: neither[ is it] in our power[ to redeem them]; for other men have our lands and vineyards.

And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.

For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.

He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.

And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought[ us], saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide[ there]. And she constrained us.

And the old man said, Peace[ be] with thee; howsoever[ let] all thy wants[ lie] upon me; only lodge not in the street.So he brought him into his house, and gave provender unto the asses: and they washed their feet, and did eat and drink.

Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

And the men which were expressed by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.

Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?And Jesus answering said, A certain[ man] went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded[ him], and departed, leaving[ him] half dead.And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked[ on him], and passed by on the other side.But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion[ on him],And went to[ him], and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave[ them] to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw[ them], he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.

Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Whether[ is] better for you, either that all the sons of Jerubbaal,[ which are] threescore and ten persons, reign over you, or that one reign over you? remember also that I[ am] your bone and your flesh.

And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.
