Behold, you fast for strife and contention, and to strike with the fist of wickedness. You don’t fast today so as to make your voice to be heard on high.

爾之禁食、致起爭競、凶拳毆擊、此期禁食、爾聲不得上聞、

是爾禁食、依然作惡、與人爭競、揮拳敺擊、夫如是豈得升聞於上哉。

爾曹禁食、依然相爭相競、逞兇揮拳毆擊、爾今如此禁食、爾呼籲之聲、必不升聞於上、爾呼籲之聲必不升聞於上或作並非欲爾呼籲之聲升聞於上

Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fists. You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high.

When you fast, it ends in arguing and fighting. You hit one another with your fists. That is an evil thing to do. The way you are now fasting keeps your prayers from being heard in heaven.

Behold, you fast only to quarrel and to fight and to hit with a wicked fist. Fasting like yours this day will not make your voice to be heard on high.

What good is fasting when you keep on fighting and quarreling? This kind of fasting will never get you anywhere with me.

You fast with contention and strife to strike viciously with your fist. You cannot fast as you do today, hoping to make your voice heard on high.

Indeed you fast for strife and debate, And to strike with the fist of wickedness. You will not fast as you do this day, To make your voice heard on high.

Look, your fasting is accompanied by arguments, brawls, and fistfights. Do not fast as you do today, trying to make your voice heard in heaven.

Tear your heart, and not your garments, and turn to Yahweh, your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and relents from sending calamity.Who knows? He may turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal offering and a drink offering to Yahweh, your God.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination— how much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind!

She wrote in the letters, saying,“ Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people.Set two men, wicked fellows, before him, and let them testify against him, saying,‘ You cursed God and the king!’ Then carry him out, and stone him to death.”The men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who lived in his city, did as Jezebel had instructed them in the letters which she had written and sent to them.They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people.The two men, the wicked fellows, came in and sat before him. The wicked fellows testified against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying,“ Naboth cursed God and the king!” Then they carried him out of the city and stoned him to death with stones.

Their webs won’t become garments. They won’t cover themselves with their works. Their works are works of iniquity, and acts of violence are in their hands.

and that most of the brothers in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear.Some indeed preach Christ even out of envy and strife, and some also out of good will.

Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward.But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face;so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these will receive greater condemnation.”

But your iniquities have separated you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.
