因為我不永遠爭辯，也不長久震怒；因為人的生氣是由我而出，人的氣息是我造的。

我必不永远相争，也不长久发怒，恐怕我所造的人与灵性都必发昏。

我必不长久控诉，也不永远怀怒，因为我虽使灵性发昏，我也造了人的气息。

I will not accuse them forever, nor will I always be angry, for then they would faint away because of me— the very people I have created.

I will not find fault with my people forever. I will not always be angry with them. If I were, I would cause their spirits to grow weak. The people I created would faint away.

For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would grow faint before me, and the breath of life that I made.

For I will not fight against you forever; I will not always be angry. If I were, all people would pass away— all the souls I have made.

有哪一位神能比得上你、赦免罪孽、不追究你產業之餘民的過犯呢？他不永遠懷怒，因為他喜悅堅愛。

難道你要永遠向我們發怒？要將你的怒氣延長到代代麼？

然而他、卻有憐憫；他赦除人的罪孽，而不除滅人；並且屢次使怒氣轉消，不激起一切烈怒。他記得他們不過是血肉，不過是風，去而不返。

再者，我們有我們肉身之父管教我們，我們尚且尊敬他們，何況靈性之父，我們豈不更當順服他而活麼？

永恆主啊，懲罰我，但要合乎常度，不要氣忿忿地，恐怕你會減少我的人數。

他不長久責備，也不永遠懷怒。他沒有按我們的罪來待我們，也沒有按我們的罪孽報應我們。天離地有多麼高，他的堅愛向敬畏他、的也多麼宏大。東離西有多麼遠，他使我們的過犯離了我們、也多麼遠。父親怎樣憐憫兒女，永恆主也怎樣憐憫敬畏他、的人。因為他知道我們的體質，他記得我們不過是塵土。論到世人、他的年日如草一樣；他的發旺正如野地的花。經風一吹，便歸無有；其原處再也不認得他。

摩西、亞倫就臉伏於地說：『上帝啊，萬人之靈的上帝啊，一個人犯罪、你就要惱怒全會眾麼？』

那創造諸天，展開穹蒼，將地和地所出的都鋪開，賜氣息給地上萬族之民，又賜靈性給行於地上的人的上帝永恆主這麼說：

永恆主說：『人類既是屬肉體的，我的靈就不永遠住在人類裏面：他在世的日子可以活到一百二十歲。』

西底家就私下向耶利米起誓說：『那造我們性命的永恆主是活的：我指着他來起誓；我一定不殺死你，也不將你交在這些尋索你性命的人手中。』

不然塵土就仍回歸於地，靈就仍回歸於賜靈的上帝了。

他若將生氣收回於自己，將氣息收拾歸自己，血肉之人就都一概氣絕，人就仍歸塵土。
