Each one says,‘ Come on, I’ll get some wine! Let’s guzzle some beer! Tomorrow will be just like today! We’ll have everything we want!’

彼曰、其來、我將取酒、痛飲醇醪、明日同於今日、樂莫大焉、

“ Come,” each one cries,“ let me get wine! Let us drink our fill of beer! And tomorrow will be like today, or even far better.”

“ Come!” they shout.“ Let’s get some wine! Let’s drink all the beer we can! Tomorrow we’ll do the same thing. And that will be even better than today.”

“ Come,” they say,“ let me get wine; let us fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow will be like this day, great beyond measure.”

“ Come,” they say,“ let’s get some wine and have a party. Let’s all get drunk. Then tomorrow we’ll do it again and have an even bigger party!”

“ Come, let me get some wine, let’s guzzle some beer; and tomorrow will be like today, only far better!”

“ Come,” they say,“ let’s get wine, and let’s drink heavily of intoxicating drink; And tomorrow will be like today, only more so.”

“ Come,” one says,“ I will bring wine, And we will fill ourselves with intoxicating drink; Tomorrow will be as today, And much more abundant.”

Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to- morrow shall be as this day, a day great beyond measure.

“ Come, let me get some wine, let’s guzzle some beer; and tomorrow will be like today, only far better!”

Come ye,[ say they], I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day,[ and] much more abundant.

“ Come,” say they,“ I will get wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow will be as today, great beyond measure.”

He says to himself,“ I will never be upended, because I experience no calamity.”

Those who are champions at drinking wine are as good as dead, who display great courage when mixing strong drinks.

If from a human point of view I fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, what did it benefit me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.

And I will say to myself,“ You have plenty of goods stored up for many years; relax, eat, drink, celebrate!”’But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your life will be demanded back from you, but who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

Old and new wine take away the understanding of my people.

You will say,“ They have struck me, but I am not harmed! They beat me, but I did not know it! When will I awake? I will look for another drink.”

and he begins to beat his fellow slaves and to eat and drink with drunkards,then the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not foresee,and will cut him in two, and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

You refuse to believe a day of disaster will come, but you establish a reign of violence.They lie around on beds decorated with ivory, and sprawl out on their couches. They eat lambs from the flock, and calves from the middle of the pen.They sing to the tune of stringed instruments; like David they invent musical instruments.They drink wine from sacrificial bowls, and pour the very best oils on themselves. Yet they are not concerned over the ruin of Joseph.

Those who get up early to drink beer are as good as dead, those who keep drinking long after dark until they are intoxicated with wine.

Do not boast about tomorrow; for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

“ But be on your guard so that your hearts are not weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of this life, and that day close down upon you suddenly like a trap.

Even these men stagger because of wine, they stumble around because of beer– priests and prophets stagger because of beer, they are confused because of wine, they stumble around because of beer; they stagger while seeing prophetic visions, they totter while making legal decisions.Indeed, all the tables are covered with vomit; no place is untouched.

For the overseer must be blameless as one entrusted with God’s work, not arrogant, not prone to anger, not a drunkard, not violent, not greedy for gain.

But if that slave should say to himself,‘ My master is delayed in returning,’ and he begins to beat the other slaves, both men and women, and to eat, drink, and get drunk,then the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not foresee, and will cut him in two, and assign him a place with the unfaithful.

It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, or for rulers to crave strong drink,lest they drink and forget what is decreed, and remove from all the poor their legal rights.

Then some people said,“ Come on! Let us consider how to deal with Jeremiah! There will still be priests to instruct us, wise men to give us advice, and prophets to declare God’s word. Come on! Let’s bring charges against him and get rid of him! Then we will not need to pay attention to anything he says.”

But look, there is outright celebration! You say,“ Kill the ox and slaughter the sheep, eat meat and drink wine. Eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”The LORD who commands armies told me this:“ Certainly this sin will not be forgiven as long as you live,” says the sovereign master, the LORD who commands armies.
