This is what the Lord says:“ Be just and fair to all. Do what is right and good, for I am coming soon to rescue you and to display my righteousness among you.

This is what the Lord says:“ Maintain justice and do what is right, for my salvation is close at hand and my righteousness will soon be revealed.

The Lord says,“ Do what is fair and right. I will soon come and save you. Soon everyone will know that what I do is right.

Thus says the Lord:“ Keep justice, and do righteousness, for soon my salvation will come, and my righteousness be revealed.

This is what the LORD says: Preserve justice and do what is right, for my salvation is coming soon, and my righteousness will be revealed.

This is what the Lord says:“ Guard justice and do righteousness, For My salvation is about to come And My righteousness to be revealed.

Thus says the Lord:“ Keep justice, and do righteousness, For My salvation is about to come, And My righteousness to be revealed.

Thus saith Jehovah, Keep ye justice, and do righteousness; for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.

This is what the Lord says: Preserve justice and do what is right, for My salvation is coming soon, and My righteousness will be revealed.

Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation[ is] near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.

This is what the LORD says,“ Promote justice! Do what is right! For I am ready to deliver you; I am ready to vindicate you openly.

Yahweh says,“ Maintain justice and do what is right, for my salvation is near and my righteousness will soon be revealed.

Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, so our land will be filled with his glory.

This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living.Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy.Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.

This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say,“ It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”

“ Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”

Wash yourselves and be clean! Get your sins out of my sight. Give up your evil ways.Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows.“ Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord.“ Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.If you will only obey me, you will have plenty to eat.

But faith’s way of getting right with God says,“ Don’t say in your heart,‘ Who will go up to heaven?’( to bring Christ down to earth).And don’t say,‘ Who will go down to the place of the dead?’( to bring Christ back to life again).”In fact, it says,“ The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach:If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

For I am ready to set things right, not in the distant future, but right now! I am ready to save Jerusalem and show my glory to Israel.

But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.”

My mercy and justice are coming soon. My salvation is on the way. My strong arm will bring justice to the nations. All distant lands will look to me and wait in hope for my powerful arm.

Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.They will receive the Lord’s blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior.Such people may seek you and worship in your presence, O God of Jacob. Interlude

Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.

Then John went from place to place on both sides of the Jordan River, preaching that people should be baptized to show that they had repented of their sins and turned to God to be forgiven.Isaiah had spoken of John when he said,“ He is a voice shouting in the wilderness,‘ Prepare the way for the Lord’s coming! Clear the road for him!The valleys will be filled, and the mountains and hills made level. The curves will be straightened, and the rough places made smooth.And then all people will see the salvation sent from God.’”When the crowds came to John for baptism, he said,“ You brood of snakes! Who warned you to flee the coming wrath?Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other,‘ We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones.Even now the ax of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.”

But for those who are righteous, the way is not steep and rough. You are a God who does what is right, and you smooth out the path ahead of them.Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify your name.

From then on Jesus began to preach,“ Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”

“ The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced.“ The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”

Anyone who wants to do the will of God will know whether my teaching is from God or is merely my own.

This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says:“‘ Even now, if you quit your evil ways, I will let you stay in your own land.But don’t be fooled by those who promise you safety simply because the Lord’s Temple is here. They chant,“ The Lord’s Temple is here! The Lord’s Temple is here!”But I will be merciful only if you stop your evil thoughts and deeds and start treating each other with justice;only if you stop exploiting foreigners, orphans, and widows; only if you stop your murdering; and only if you stop harming yourselves by worshiping idols.Then I will let you stay in this land that I gave to your ancestors to keep forever.“‘ Don’t be fooled into thinking that you will never suffer because the Temple is here. It’s a lie!Do you really think you can steal, murder, commit adultery, lie, and burn incense to Baal and all those other new gods of yours,and then come here and stand before me in my Temple and chant,“ We are safe!”— only to go right back to all those evils again?Don’t you yourselves admit that this Temple, which bears my name, has become a den of thieves? Surely I see all the evil going on there. I, the Lord, have spoken!

“ Remember to obey the Law of Moses, my servant— all the decrees and regulations that I gave him on Mount Sinai for all Israel.
