For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge.For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

For they sow wind And they harvest a storm. The standing grain has no kernels; It yields no grain. If it were to yield, strangers would swallow it.

I will refresh the soul of the priests with abundance, And My people will be satisfied with My goodness,” declares the Lord.

“ For My people have committed two evils: They have abandoned Me, The fountain of living waters, To carve out for themselves cisterns, Broken cisterns That do not hold water.

Is it not indeed from the Lord of armies That peoples labor merely for fire, And nations become weary for nothing?

Do not be misled by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited.

After He called the crowd to Him again, He began saying to them,“ Listen to Me, all of you, and understand:

Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, A people in whose heart is My Law; Do not fear the taunting of people, Nor be terrified of their abuses.

“ Listen to Me, you who pursue righteousness, Who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were cut, And to the quarry from which you were dug.

My soul is satisfied as with fat and fatness, And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips.

however, Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law.

“ Come, eat of my food And drink of the wine I have mixed.

Again he sent other slaves, saying,‘ Tell those who have been invited,“ Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fattened cattle are all butchered and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast!” ’

If you are willing and obedient, You will eat the best of the land;

And in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”

They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; And You allow them to drink from the river of Your delights.

Those who lavish gold from the bag And weigh silver on the scale, Hire a goldsmith, and he makes it into a god; They bow down, indeed they worship it.

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

“ Pay attention to Me, My people, And listen to Me, My nation; For a law will go out from Me, And I will bring My justice as a light of the peoples.

Now the Lord of armies will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples on this mountain; A banquet of aged wine, choice pieces with marrow, And refined, aged wine.

“ And it shall come about, if you listen obediently to my commandments which I am commanding you today, to love the Lord your God and to serve Him with all your heart and all your soul,

Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

“ Now then, sons, listen to me, For blessed are those who keep my ways.

And He said,“ If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, and listen to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the Lord, am your healer.”

and bring the fattened calf, slaughter it, and let’s eat and celebrate;

a person to whom God has given riches, wealth, and honor, so that his soul lacks nothing of all that he desires, yet God has not given him the opportunity to enjoy these things, but a foreigner enjoys them. This is futility and a severe affliction.

Ephraim feeds on wind, And pursues the east wind continually; He multiplies lies and violence. Moreover, he makes a covenant with Assyria, And oil is brought to Egypt.

Until an arrow pierces through his liver; As a bird hurries to the snare, So he does not know that it will cost him his life.

So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed pigs.And he longed to have his fill of the carob pods that the pigs were eating, and no one was giving him anything.

But whoever listens to me will live securely And will be at ease from the dread of evil.”

although I myself could boast as having confidence even in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he is confident in the flesh, I have more reason:circumcised the eighth day, of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the Law, a Pharisee;as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to the righteousness which is in the Law, found blameless.But whatever things were gain to me, these things I have counted as loss because of Christ.

He feeds on ashes; a deceived heart has misled him. And he cannot save himself, nor say,“ Is there not a lie in my right hand?”
