In righteousness you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you.

When you do what is right, you will be made secure. Your leaders will not be mean to you. You will not have anything to be afraid of. You will not be terrified anymore. Terror will not come near you.

You will be secure under a government that is just and fair. Your enemies will stay far away. You will live in peace, and terror will not come near.

For you have shattered their oppressive yoke and the rod on their shoulders, the staff of their oppressor, just as you did on the day of Midian.

He said to him,“ Run and tell this young man: Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls because of the number of people and animals in it.”The declaration of the LORD:“ I myself will be a wall of fire around it, and I will be the glory within it.”

The LORD says this:“ I will return to Zion and live in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the Faithful City; the mountain of the LORD of Armies will be called the Holy Mountain.”

But based on his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.

The remnant of Israel will no longer do wrong or tell lies; a deceitful tongue will not be found in their mouths. They will pasture and lie down, with nothing to make them afraid.Sing for joy, Daughter Zion; shout loudly, Israel! Be glad and celebrate with all your heart, Daughter Jerusalem!The LORD has removed your punishment; he has turned back your enemy. The King of Israel, the LORD, is among you; you need no longer fear harm.On that day it will be said to Jerusalem:“ Do not fear; Zion, do not let your hands grow weak.

As for you, my servant Jacob, do not be afraid— this is the LORD’s declaration— and do not be discouraged, Israel, for without fail I will save you out of a distant place, your descendants, from the land of their captivity! Jacob will return and have calm and quiet with no one to frighten him.

I rejoice greatly in the LORD, I exult in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation and wrapped me in a robe of righteousness, as a groom wears a turban and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.For as the earth produces its growth, and as a garden enables what is sown to spring up, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations.I will not keep silent because of Zion, and I will not keep still because of Jerusalem, until her righteousness shines like a bright light and her salvation, like a flaming torch.

I will restore your judges to what they were at first, and your advisers to what they were at the start. Afterward you will be called the Righteous City, a Faithful Town.”

He will settle disputes among the nations and provide arbitration for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plows and their spears into pruning knives. Nation will not take up the sword against nation, and they will never again train for war.

It will be said about me,‘ Righteousness and strength are found only in the LORD.’” All who are enraged against him will come to him and be put to shame.

“ I will gather the remnant of my flock from all the lands where I have banished them, and I will return them to their grazing land. They will become fruitful and numerous.I will raise up shepherds over them who will tend them. They will no longer be afraid or discouraged, nor will any be missing.” This is the LORD’s declaration.

Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who dwells in Zion, my holy mountain. Jerusalem will be holy, and foreigners will never overrun it again.In that day the mountains will drip with sweet wine, and the hills will flow with milk. All the streams of Judah will flow with water, and a spring will issue from the LORD’s house, watering the Valley of Acacias.Egypt will become desolate, and Edom a desert wasteland, because of the violence done to the people of Judah in whose land they shed innocent blood.But Judah will be inhabited forever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.I will pardon their bloodguilt, which I have not pardoned, for the LORD dwells in Zion.

This is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says:“ When I restore their fortunes, they will once again speak this word in the land of Judah and in its cities:‘ May the LORD bless you, righteous settlement, holy mountain.’

All your people will be righteous; they will possess the land forever; they are the branch I planted, the work of my hands, so that I may be glorified.

“ Wake up, wake up; put on your strength, Zion! Put on your beautiful garments, Jerusalem, the holy city! For the uncircumcised and the unclean will no longer enter you.

I will place my Spirit within you and cause you to follow my statutes and carefully observe my ordinances.You will live in the land that I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God.

They will not defile themselves anymore with their idols, their abhorrent things, and all their transgressions. I will save them from all their apostasies by which they sinned, and I will cleanse them. Then they will be my people, and I will be their God.My servant David will be king over them, and there will be one shepherd for all of them. They will follow my ordinances, and keep my statutes and obey them.“‘ They will live in the land that I gave to my servant Jacob, where your ancestors lived. They will live in it forever with their children and grandchildren, and my servant David will be their prince forever.I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be a permanent covenant with them. I will establish and multiply them and will set my sanctuary among them forever.

But you have forgotten the LORD, your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth. You are in constant dread all day long because of the fury of the oppressor, who has set himself to destroy. But where is the fury of the oppressor?
