因为神的恩赏和呼召是决不会反悔的。

天地都要过去，但我的话决不会废去。

然而神满有怜悯，因着他爱我们的大爱，就在我们因过犯死了的时候，使我们与基督一同活过来，（你们得救是靠着恩典，）

你们要侧耳而听，要到我这里来；你们要听，就可以存活；我必与你们立永远的约，就是应许赐给大卫的那确实的慈爱。

你们要仰观天空，俯视大地；因为诸天必像烟云消散，大地要像衣服渐渐破旧；其上的居民必像蠓虫死亡（“必像蠓虫死亡”或译：“必要这样死去”），但我的拯救却永远长存，我的公义也不会废去。认识公义，把我的训诲存在心里的人民哪！你们要听我的话。你们不要怕人的辱骂，也不要因人的毁谤而惊惶。

但我必不把我的慈爱从他身上收回，也必不背弃我的信实。我必不违背我的约，也不改变我口中所出的话。

我与他所立的是生命和平安的约，也把这些赐给了他。我要使他敬畏我，又畏惧我的名。

在怒气涨溢的时候，我暂时向你掩面，却要以永远的慈爱怜悯你；这是耶和华你的救赎主说的。

但是现在耶稣得了更尊贵的职分，正好像他是更美的约的中保，这约是凭着更美的应许立的。如果头一个约没有缺点，就没有寻求另一个约的必要了。可是神指责他们，说：“看哪，主说，日子要到了，我要与以色列家和犹大家订立新约。这新约不像从前我拉他们祖先的手，领他们出埃及的日子与他们所立的约。因为他们没有遵守我的约，我就不理会他们。这是主说的。主说：‘因为在那些日子以后，我要与以色列家所立的约是这样：我要把我的律法放在他们的心思里面，写在他们的心上。我要作他们的神，他们要作我的子民。他们各人必不用教导自己的邻居，和自己的同胞，说：你要认识主。因为所有的人，从最小到最大的，都必认识我。我也要宽恕他们的不义，决不再记着他们的罪恶。’”神既然说到新的约，就是把前约当作旧的了；那变成陈旧衰老的，就快要消逝了。

愿赐平安的神，就是那凭着永约的血，把群羊的大牧人我们的主耶稣，从死人中领出来的那一位，在一切善事上成全你们，好使你们遵行他的旨意；又藉着耶稣基督在我们里面，行他所喜悦的事。愿荣耀归给他，直到永永远远。阿们。

但主的日子必要像贼一样来到。在那日，天必轰然一声地消失，所有元素都因烈火而融化；地和地上所有的，都要被烧毁（“被烧毁”有不少古抄本作“被发现”）。这一切既然都要这样融化，你们应当怎样为人，过着圣洁和敬虔的生活，等候并催促神的日子降临呢？因为在那日，天要被火焚烧就融化了，所有元素都因烈火而融解！但是我们按照他所应许的，等候新天新地，有公义在那里居住。

他们必不饥饿，也不口渴，炎热和太阳必不伤害他们，因为那怜悯他们的，要引领他们，带领他们到水泉的旁边。

我的家在神面前不是这样吗？他与我立了永远的约；这约安排了一切，稳固妥当。我的一切救恩、一切愿望，他不都成全吗？

我实在告诉你们，就算天地过去，律法的一点一画也不会废去，全部都要成就。

我告诉你，你是彼得，我要在这磐石上建立我的教会，死亡的权势﹙“死亡的权势”原文作“阴间的门”。﹚不能胜过他。

他就救了我们，并不是由于我们所行的义，而是照着他的怜悯，藉着重生的洗和圣灵的更新。
