He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.

Now when it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who was also a disciple of Jesus.He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance of the tomb and went away.

God made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we would become the righteousness of God.

“ Here is my servant whom I support, my chosen one in whom I take pleasure. I have placed my spirit on him; he will make just decrees for the nations.He will not cry out or shout; he will not publicize himself in the streets.A crushed reed he will not break, a dim wick he will not extinguish; he will faithfully make just decrees.

For we do not have a high priest incapable of sympathizing with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way just as we are, yet without sin.

Joseph of Arimathea, a highly regarded member of the council, who was himself looking forward to the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.Pilate was surprised that he was already dead. He called the centurion and asked him if he had been dead for some time.When Pilate was informed by the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.After Joseph bought a linen cloth and took down the body, he wrapped it in the linen and placed it in a tomb cut out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone across the entrance of the tomb.

After this, Joseph of Arimathea, a disciple of Jesus( but secretly, because he feared the Jewish leaders), asked Pilate if he could remove the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission, so he went and took the body away.Nicodemus, the man who had previously come to Jesus at night, accompanied Joseph, carrying a mixture of myrrh and aloes weighing about seventy- five pounds.Then they took Jesus’ body and wrapped it, with the aromatic spices, in strips of linen cloth according to Jewish burial customs.Now at the place where Jesus was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden was a new tomb where no one had yet been buried.And so, because it was the Jewish day of preparation and the tomb was nearby, they placed Jesus’ body there.

Now there was a man named Joseph who was a member of the council, a good and righteous man.( He had not consented to their plan and action.) He was from the Judean town of Arimathea, and was looking forward to the kingdom of God.He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.Then he took it down, wrapped it in a linen cloth, and placed it in a tomb cut out of the rock, where no one had yet been buried.

For it is indeed fitting for us to have such a high priest: holy, innocent, undefiled, separate from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.
