He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

His servant grew up like a tender young plant. He grew like a root coming up out of dry ground. He didn’t have any beauty or majesty that made us notice him. There wasn’t anything special about the way he looked that drew us to him.

祂雖然本質上是上帝，卻沒有緊緊抓住自己與上帝平等的地位不放，反而甘願放下一切，取了奴僕的形像，降生為人的樣子。

許多人看見祂就詫異，祂的面容被毀、身體被殘害得不成人樣。

就像樹墩上長出新的枝條，大衛的後裔中必有一人做王。

「主耶和華說，『我要從高大的香柏樹梢折下一根嫩枝，種植在以色列巍峨的高山上。它會生枝結果，成為一棵美麗的香柏樹，各類飛鳥都要棲息在它的樹枝上。田野所有的樹都會知道我耶和華使高樹倒下、矮樹長高、青樹枯萎、枯樹發榮。我耶和華言出必行。』」

祂來到自己所創造的世界，世界卻不認識祂。祂來到自己的地方，自己的人卻不接納祂。但所有接納祂的，就是那些信祂的人，祂就賜給他們權利成為上帝的兒女。這些人既不是從人的血緣關係生的，也不是從人的情慾或意願生的，而是從上帝生的。道成為肉身，住在我們中間，充滿了恩典和真理。我們見過祂的榮耀，正是父獨一兒子的榮耀。

耶穌回答說：「以利亞固然要先來復興一切，但為什麼聖經上說人子一定會飽受痛苦、遭人蔑視呢？

耶和華說：「看啊，時候將到，我要為大衛選立一個公義的苗裔，使他執掌王權。他必秉公行義，治國有方。

這不是那個木匠嗎？祂不是瑪麗亞的兒子嗎？祂不是雅各、約西、猶大、西門的大哥嗎？祂的妹妹們不也住在我們這裡嗎？」他們就對祂很反感。

那天正是逾越節的預備日，大約在中午十二時，彼拉多對猶太人說：「看啊！你們的王。」眾人喊道：「除掉祂！除掉祂！把祂釘在十字架上！」彼拉多說：「我可以把你們的王釘在十字架上嗎？」祭司長答道：「除了凱撒，我們沒有別的王！」

耶穌對他說：「狐狸有洞，飛鳥有窩，人子卻沒有安枕之處。」

於是，耶穌戴著荊棘冠冕、穿著紫色長袍出來。彼拉多對眾人說：「你們看這個人！」

律法因為人性軟弱而無法成就的事，上帝親自成就了。祂差遣自己的兒子成為和罪人一樣有血有肉的人，作了贖罪祭，廢掉了罪的權勢，

他們就罵他：「你才是祂的門徒！我們是摩西的門徒。我們知道上帝曾對摩西講話，至於這個人，我們不知道祂是從哪裡來的。」

還是被君王派來賞善罰惡的官員。

告訴他，萬軍之耶和華說，『看啊，那被稱為大衛苗裔的要從自己的地方興起，建造耶和華的殿。

眾人又高喊：「不要這個人！我們要巴拉巴！」巴拉巴是個強盜。

約瑟和瑪麗亞辦完了主的律法規定的一切事之後，就回到他們的家鄉——加利利的拿撒勒。耶穌漸漸長大，身心強健，充滿智慧，上帝的恩典與祂同在。

便生下第一胎，是個兒子。她用布把孩子裹好，安放在馬槽裡，因為旅店沒有房間了。

於是，耶穌隨父母回到拿撒勒，並順從他們。瑪麗亞把這一切事牢記在心。耶穌漸漸長大，智慧與日俱增，越來越受上帝和人們的喜愛。
