He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

祂虽然本质上是上帝，却没有紧紧抓住自己与上帝平等的地位不放，反而甘愿放下一切，取了奴仆的形象，降生为人的样子。

许多人看见祂就诧异，祂的面容被毁、身体被残害得不成人样。

就像树墩上长出新的枝条，大卫的后裔中必有一人做王。

“主耶和华说，‘我要从高大的香柏树梢折下一根嫩枝，种植在以色列巍峨的高山上。它会生枝结果，成为一棵美丽的香柏树，各类飞鸟都要栖息在它的树枝上。田野所有的树都会知道我耶和华使高树倒下、矮树长高、青树枯萎、枯树发荣。我耶和华言出必行。’”

祂来到自己所创造的世界，世界却不认识祂。祂来到自己的地方，自己的人却不接纳祂。但所有接纳祂的，就是那些信祂的人，祂就赐给他们权利成为上帝的儿女。这些人既不是从人的血缘关系生的，也不是从人的情欲或意愿生的，而是从上帝生的。道成为肉身，住在我们中间，充满了恩典和真理。我们见过祂的荣耀，正是父独一儿子的荣耀。

耶稣回答说：“以利亚固然要先来复兴一切，但为什么圣经上说人子一定会饱受痛苦、遭人蔑视呢？

耶和华说：“看啊，时候将到，我要为大卫选立一个公义的苗裔，使他执掌王权。他必秉公行义，治国有方。

这不是那个木匠吗？祂不是玛丽亚的儿子吗？祂不是雅各、约西、犹大、西门的大哥吗？祂的妹妹们不也住在我们这里吗？”他们就对祂很反感。

那天正是逾越节的预备日，大约在中午十二时，彼拉多对犹太人说：“看啊！你们的王。”众人喊道：“除掉祂！除掉祂！把祂钉在十字架上！”彼拉多说：“我可以把你们的王钉在十字架上吗？”祭司长答道：“除了凯撒，我们没有别的王！”

耶稣对他说：“狐狸有洞，飞鸟有窝，人子却没有安枕之处。”

于是，耶稣戴着荆棘冠冕、穿着紫色长袍出来。彼拉多对众人说：“你们看这个人！”

律法因为人性软弱而无法成就的事，上帝亲自成就了。祂差遣自己的儿子成为和罪人一样有血有肉的人，作了赎罪祭，废掉了罪的权势，

他们就骂他：“你才是祂的门徒！我们是摩西的门徒。我们知道上帝曾对摩西讲话，至于这个人，我们不知道祂是从哪里来的。”

还是被君王派来赏善罚恶的官员。

告诉他，万军之耶和华说，‘看啊，那被称为大卫苗裔的要从自己的地方兴起，建造耶和华的殿。

众人又高喊：“不要这个人！我们要巴拉巴！”巴拉巴是个强盗。

约瑟和玛丽亚办完了主的律法规定的一切事之后，就回到他们的家乡——加利利的拿撒勒。耶稣渐渐长大，身心强健，充满智慧，上帝的恩典与祂同在。

便生下第一胎，是个儿子。她用布把孩子裹好，安放在马槽里，因为旅店没有房间了。

于是，耶稣随父母回到拿撒勒，并顺从他们。玛丽亚把这一切事牢记在心。耶稣渐渐长大，智慧与日俱增，越来越受上帝和人们的喜爱。
