“ I, I am the one who consoles you. Why are you afraid of mortal men, of mere human beings who are as short-lived as grass?

耶和华说：“安慰你们的是我，是我。你为什么要害怕难逃一死、生命如草芥的世人呢？

“我，我耶和华是安慰你们的；你是谁，竟怕那会死的人，怕那被造如草的世人呢？

“我，是我安慰你们；你是谁，竟怕那必死的人，就是那被弃如草芥的世人；

『是我，我親自安慰你們的；你怎麼啦，你竟怕那會死的人，怕那生成如草的世人呀！

「我，是我安慰你們；你是誰，竟怕那必死的人，就是那被棄如草芥的世人；

主曰、慰藉爾者我也、爾何人斯、乃畏必死之世人、懼如草之人子、

耶和華曰、我慰藉爾、斯世之人、俱將淪亡、儗於草萊、何為畏之。

主曰、慰藉爾者惟我、惟我、爾為誰、竟懼必死之人、畏彼似草萊之世人、世人或作亞當之子

“ I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mere mortals, human beings who are but grass,

The Lord says to his people,“ I comfort you because of who I am. Why are you afraid of mere human beings? They are like grass that dries up.

“ I, I am he who comforts you; who are you that you are afraid of man who dies, of the son of man who is made like grass,

“ I, yes I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans, who wither like the grass and disappear?

I— I am the one who comforts you. Who are you that you should fear humans who die, or a son of man who is given up like grass?

“ I, I Myself, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you are afraid of mortal man, And of a son of man who is made like grass,

“ I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid Of a man who will die, And of the son of a man who will be made like grass?

I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou art afraid of man that shall die, and of the son of man that shall be made as grass;

I— I am the One who comforts you. Who are you that you should fear man who dies, or a son of man who is given up like grass?

I,[ even] I,[ am] he that comforteth you: who[ art] thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man[ that] shall die, and of the son of man[ which] shall be made[ as] grass;

“ I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you, that you are afraid of man who shall die, and of the son of man who will be made as grass?

The LORD is on my side, I am not afraid! What can people do to me?

For all flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of the grass; the grass withers and the flower falls off,

“ I will not abandon you as orphans, I will come to you.

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and will cause you to remember everything I said to you.“ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; I do not give it to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be distressed or lacking in courage.

Stop trusting in human beings, whose life’s breath is in their nostrils. For why should they be given special consideration?

As a mother consoles a child, so I will console you, and you will be consoled over Jerusalem.”

Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,who comforts us in all our troubles so that we may be able to comfort those experiencing any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow toward us, so also our comfort through Christ overflows to you.

Certainly the LORD will console Zion; he will console all her ruins. He will make her wilderness like Eden, her desert like the Garden of the LORD. Happiness and joy will be restored to her, thanksgiving and the sound of music.

But the rich person’s pride should be in his humiliation, because he will pass away like a wildflower in the meadow.For the sun rises with its heat and dries up the meadow; the petal of the flower falls off and its beauty is lost forever. So also the rich person in the midst of his pursuits will wither away.

For even when we came into Macedonia, our body had no rest at all, but we were troubled in every way– struggles from the outside, fears from within.But God, who encourages the downhearted, encouraged us by the arrival of Titus.

You bring their lives to an end and they“ fall asleep.” In the morning they are like the grass that sprouts up;in the morning it glistens and sprouts up; at evening time it withers and dries up.

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

I, I am the one who blots out your rebellious deeds for my sake; your sins I do not remember.

A person’s life is like grass. Like a flower in the field it flourishes,but when the hot wind blows by, it disappears, and one can no longer even spot the place where it once grew.

“ I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more they can do.But I will warn you whom you should fear: Fear the one who, after the killing, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him!

Many people seek the face of a ruler, but it is from the LORD that one receives justice.

Listen to me, you who know what is right, you people who are aware of my law! Don’t be afraid of the insults of men; don’t be discouraged because of their abuse!For a moth will eat away at them like clothes; a clothes moth will devour them like wool. But the vindication I provide will be permanent; the deliverance I give will last.”

For this is what the high and exalted one says, the one who rules forever, whose name is holy:“ I dwell in an exalted and holy place, but also with the discouraged and humiliated, in order to cheer up the humiliated and to encourage the discouraged.For I will not be hostile forever or perpetually angry, for then man’s spirit would grow faint before me, the life-giving breath I created.I was angry because of their sinful greed; I attacked them and angrily rejected them, yet they remained disobedient and stubborn.I have seen their behavior, but I will heal them and give them rest, and I will once again console those who mourn.

When the wicked sprout up like grass, and all the evildoers glisten, it is so that they may be annihilated.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to King Nebuchadnezzar,“ We do not need to give you a reply concerning this.If our God whom we are serving exists, he is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire, and he will rescue us, O king, from your power as well.But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we don’t serve your gods, and we will not pay homage to the golden statue that you have erected.”

A voice says,“ Cry out!” Another asks,“ What should I cry out?” The first voice responds:“ All people are like grass, and all their promises are like the flowers in the field.The grass dries up, the flowers wither, when the wind sent by the LORD blows on them. Surely humanity is like grass.

Their life’s breath departs, they return to the ground; on that day their plans die.

Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria experienced peace and thus was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and in the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, the church increased in numbers.
