But now, all you who light fires and provide yourselves with flaming torches, go, walk in the light of your fires and of the torches you have set ablaze. This is what you shall receive from my hand: You will lie down in torment.

凡爾燃火、自環以火炬者、其行於爾之火焰、與所燃之火炬中、爾必慘然而臥、我手使然也、

反是以為吾自有火、烟燄環繞、若然則以此照爾出入、可也、不知我必降以災、使彼長戚戚。

惟爾斯眾、皆自燃火、自圍以火炬、以為光照、且恃爾之火光、及爾所燃之火炬而行、當知我必降災於爾、使爾憂痛偃臥、或作爾曹燃火自圍以火炬爾必入爾所燃之烈火內至爾所燃之火炬中我必使爾遭遇如此使爾憂痛偃臥

But all you sinners who light fires should go ahead and walk in their light. You who carry flaming torches should walk in their light. Here’s what I’m going to do to you. I’ll make you lie down in great pain.

Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who equip yourselves with burning torches! Walk by the light of your fire, and by the torches that you have kindled! This you have from my hand: you shall lie down in torment.

But watch out, you who live in your own light and warm yourselves by your own fires. This is the reward you will receive from me: You will soon fall down in great torment.

Look, all you who kindle a fire, who encircle yourselves with torches; walk in the light of your fire and of the torches you have lit! This is what you’ll get from my hand: you will lie down in a place of torment.

Behold, all you who kindle a fire, Who encircle yourselves with flaming arrows, Walk in the light of your fire And among the flaming arrows you have set ablaze. This you will have from My hand: You will lie down in torment.

Look, all you who kindle a fire, Who encircle yourselves with sparks: Walk in the light of your fire and in the sparks you have kindled— This you shall have from My hand: You shall lie down in torment.

Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that gird yourselves about with firebrands; walk ye in the flame of your fire, and among the brands that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of my hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.

Look, all you who kindle a fire, who encircle yourselves with firebrands; walk in the light of your fire and in the firebrands you have lit! This is what you’ll get from My hand: you will lie down in a place of torment.

Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass[ yourselves] about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks[ that] ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.

Look, all of you who start a fire and who equip yourselves with flaming arrows, walk in the light of the fire you started and among the flaming arrows you ignited! This is what you will receive from me: you will lie down in a place of pain.

Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who adorn yourselves with torches around yourselves, walk in the flame of your fire, and among the torches that you have kindled. You will have this from my hand: you will lie down in sorrow.

This is what the Lord says:“ Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord.That person will be like a bush in the wastelands; they will not see prosperity when it comes. They will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives.“ But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools

Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

they are not to‘ honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:“‘ These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins.”

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

You boast,“ We have entered into a covenant with death, with the realm of the dead we have made an agreement. When an overwhelming scourge sweeps by, it cannot touch us, for we have made a lie our refuge and falsehood our hiding place.”So this is what the Sovereign Lord says:“ See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line; hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie, and water will overflow your hiding place.Your covenant with death will be annulled; your agreement with the realm of the dead will not stand. When the overwhelming scourge sweeps by, you will be beaten down by it.As often as it comes it will carry you away; morning after morning, by day and by night, it will sweep through.” The understanding of this message will bring sheer terror.The bed is too short to stretch out on, the blanket too narrow to wrap around you.

“ Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them.

But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.

Then they will look toward the earth and see only distress and darkness and fearful gloom, and they will be thrust into utter darkness.

This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says:“ In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.You said,‘ No, we will flee on horses.’ Therefore you will flee! You said,‘ We will ride off on swift horses.’ Therefore your pursuers will be swift!

“‘ As for you, people of Israel, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Go and serve your idols, every one of you! But afterward you will surely listen to me and no longer profane my holy name with your gifts and idols.

Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says:“ My servants will eat, but you will go hungry; my servants will drink, but you will go thirsty; my servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame.My servants will sing out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out from anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit.You will leave your name for my chosen ones to use in their curses; the Sovereign Lord will put you to death, but to his servants he will give another name.Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the one true God; whoever takes an oath in the land will swear by the one true God. For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes.

Jesus said,“ For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.”

Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more. I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods or take up their names on my lips.

Like a maniac shooting flaming arrows of death

The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

The Lord had said to Moses,“ Pharaoh will refuse to listen to you— so that my wonders may be multiplied in Egypt.”Moses and Aaron performed all these wonders before Pharaoh, but the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let the Israelites go out of his country.

“ Go to Bethel and sin; go to Gilgal and sin yet more. Bring your sacrifices every morning, your tithes every three years.Burn leavened bread as a thank offering and brag about your freewill offerings— boast about them, you Israelites, for this is what you love to do,” declares the Sovereign Lord.

He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might

Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.

But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

“ Then the king told the attendants,‘ Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.
