「到那日，所有種過一千棵葡萄樹、值一千塊銀子的地方，都必成為荊棘和蒺藜之地。人到那裡去，就必帶弓和箭，因為遍地都是荊棘和蒺藜。所有被鋤頭翻耕過的山地，你都不會上去，因為你懼怕荊棘和蒺藜；那裡必成為放牛之地、羊群踐踏之處。」

看哪！耶和華使大地空廢，變得荒涼；又使地面扭曲，使地上的居民四散。那時，百姓怎樣，祭司也怎樣；僕人怎樣，主人也怎樣；婢女怎樣，主母也怎樣；購買的怎樣，販賣的也怎樣；借給人的怎樣，向人借的也怎樣；放債的怎樣，借債的也怎樣。大地必徹底空廢，被掠奪淨盡，因為耶和華已經說了這話。

主必賜下雨水給你播在地裡的種子，並要使地裡出肥美豐盛的糧食。到那日，你的牲畜將在寬闊的草場上吃草；

城中只有廢墟殘留，城門被打得破碎不堪。

卻背棄了真理，就不可能再次更新以至於悔改了。因為他們親自把神的兒子再次釘上十字架，公然羞辱他。要知道，當一塊田地吸收了常常降在它上面的雨水，並且為種地的人長出有用菜蔬時，它就享受從神而來的祝福；但如果它長出荊棘和蒺藜，就沒有用處了，很快就要被詛咒，它的結局就是被焚燒。

我就說：「主啊，這要到什麼時候呢？」他說：「直到城鎮廢棄，無人居住，房屋空無一人，土地廢棄荒涼的時候；那時，耶和華必把人遷到遠方，在這地上必有很多被遺棄之處。

為著我民那長荊棘和蒺藜之地，為著歡騰之城的一切歡樂之家，你們捶胸哀哭吧！因為城堡將被撇棄，喧鬧的城市將被遺棄，山岡和守望樓將成為獸穴，直到永遠，成為野驢的喜樂之地和畜群的草場。

他們將倒在刀口下，被擄到各國去。耶路撒冷將要被外邦人踐踏，直到外邦人的日期滿了。

前來攻擊耶路撒冷的萬國中所有存留下來的人，都必年復一年上來敬拜大君王萬軍之耶和華，並且守住棚節。地上的萬族中，凡不上耶路撒冷敬拜大君王萬軍之耶和華的，就不會有雨水降在他們的地上。

這兩個人有權柄閉塞天空，使雨水在他們做先知傳道的日子不降下來；又有權柄統管眾水，使水變成血，並且能隨時隨意用各樣災害擊打大地。

萬軍之耶和華起誓，讓我親耳聽見：「必有許多房屋成為廢墟，甚至那些又大又美的房屋也無人居住。四百公畝葡萄園只出二十二公升的酒；二百二十公升穀種只出二十二公升的糧食。」
