放過罪人、冤枉義人，都為耶和華所憎惡。

你要知道，末世必有艱難的日子，因為那時的人都自私自利、貪愛錢財、狂妄自誇、驕傲自負、說毀謗話、違背父母、忘恩負義、心不聖潔、冷漠無情、不願和解、好說讒言、毫無節制、蠻橫兇暴、不愛良善、出賣朋友、任意妄為、自高自大、沉溺享樂、不愛上帝，虛有敬虔的外表，卻無敬虔的實質。你要避開這樣的人。

耶穌對他們說：「你們在人面前自以為義，但上帝能看透你們的心。因為世人所看重的東西在上帝看來卻是可憎的。

你們說的話使耶和華厭煩，然而，你們還說：「我們在何事上令祂厭煩呢？」因為你們說：「耶和華將所有作惡者視為好人，並且喜悅他們」，還說：「公義的上帝在哪裡？」

「眼睛是身上的燈。如果你的眼睛明亮，全身都光明；要是你的眼睛昏花，全身就黑暗。如果你裡面的光黑暗了，那黑暗是多麼大啊！

你的眼睛就是身體的燈，你的眼睛明亮，全身就光明；你的眼睛昏花，全身就黑暗。因此要小心，不要讓你心裡的光變為黑暗。

他們說黑夜是白晝，聲稱黑暗就是光明。

你們這些使正義變為苦艾、將公義丟棄在地的人啊，

以往曾經有假先知在百姓中出現，將來在你們中間也同樣會有假教師出現。他們暗地裡引進使人沉淪的異端邪說，甚至否認那位買贖他們的主。這些人正迅速地自招滅亡。

他們口出狂言，空話連篇，以肉體的邪情私慾為餌，誘惑那些剛剛擺脫了荒謬生活的人。他們應許那些人可以得自由，而自己卻做罪惡的奴隸，因為人被什麼制伏，就被什麼奴役。

耶穌回答說：「為什麼你們拘守傳統而違背上帝的誡命呢？上帝說，『要孝敬父母』，又說，『咒罵父母的，必被處死。』你們卻說，『人如果把供養父母的錢奉獻給上帝，他就不必供養父母。』你們這是用傳統來廢掉上帝的誡命。

「瞎眼的嚮導啊，你們有禍了！你們說，『指著聖殿發誓，不算數；但是指著聖殿裡的金子發誓，就要遵守誓言。』無知的瞎子啊！金子重要呢？還是使金子神聖的聖殿重要呢？你們又說，『指著祭壇發誓不算數，但是指著壇上的供物發誓，就要遵守誓言。』瞎眼的人啊！供物重要呢？還是使供物神聖的祭壇重要呢？其實指著祭壇發誓，就是指著祭壇和壇上的一切東西發誓。指著聖殿發誓，就是指著聖殿和住在裡面的上帝發誓。指著天發誓，就是指著上帝的寶座和寶座上的那位發誓。「虛偽的律法教師和法利賽人啊，你們有禍了！你們把薄荷、茴香、芹菜獻上十分之一，卻忽略了律法中更重要的事——公正、憐憫、信實。後者是你們本該做的，前者也不可忽略。

如今我們稱狂傲的人有福，因為作惡的人凡事順利，他們雖然試探上帝，卻仍能逃過災禍。』」
