Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time[ that] thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.

You have neither heard nor understood; from of old your ears have not been open. Well do I know how treacherous you are; you were called a rebel from birth.

You have not heard or understood what I said. Your ears have been plugged up for a long time. I knew very well that you would turn against me. From the day you were born, you have refused to obey me.

You have never heard, you have never known, from of old your ear has not been opened. For I knew that you would surely deal treacherously, and that from before birth you were called a rebel.

“ Yes, I will tell you of things that are entirely new, things you never heard of before. For I know so well what traitors you are. You have been rebels from birth.

You have never heard; you have never known; for a long time your ears have not been open. For I knew that you were very treacherous, and were known as a rebel from birth.

Yes, you didn’t hear. Yes, you didn’t know. Yes, from of old your ear was not opened, for I knew that you dealt very treacherously, and were called a transgressor from the womb.

The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which[ men] deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it[ is] sealed:

Remember,[ and] forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you.When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone,[ even] the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them[ was written] according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights,[ that] the LORD gave me the two tables of stone,[ even] the tables of the covenant.And the LORD said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted[ themselves]; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.Furthermore the LORD spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it[ is] a stiffnecked people:Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant[ were] in my two hands.And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God,[ and] had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.And I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes.And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also.And the LORD was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same time.And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it,[ and] ground[ it] very small,[ even] until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibrothhattaavah, ye provoked the LORD to wrath.Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadeshbarnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.

A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.

And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.

O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known[ me].Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted[ with] all my ways.For[ there is] not a word in my tongue,[ but], lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.

For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD.

Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

Who[ is] blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger[ that] I sent? who[ is] blind as[ he that is] perfect, and blind as the LORD’S servant?Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.

Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with[ their] eyes, nor understand with[ their] heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:

To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear[ is] uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Remember this, and shew yourselves men: bring[ it] again to mind, O ye transgressors.

Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Surely[ as] a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD.

LORD,[ when] thy hand is lifted up, they will not see:[ but] they shall see, and be ashamed for[ their] envy at the people; yea, the fire of thine enemies shall devour them.

Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and[ their] ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with[ their] eyes, and hear with[ their] ears, and should understand with[ their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto Jerusalem; Thy birth and thy nativity[ is] of the land of Canaan; thy father[ was] an Amorite, and thy mother an Hittite.And[ as for] thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple[ thee]; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.None eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, to the lothing of thy person, in the day that thou wast born.

They have dealt treacherously against the LORD: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.

Because I knew that thou[ art] obstinate, and thy neck[ is] an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;

But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.

Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.

And I said after she had done all these[ things], Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw[ it].And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD.And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.
