You have neither heard nor understood; from of old your ears have not been open. Well do I know how treacherous you are; you were called a rebel from birth.

You have not heard or understood what I said. Your ears have been plugged up for a long time. I knew very well that you would turn against me. From the day you were born, you have refused to obey me.

You have never heard, you have never known, from of old your ear has not been opened. For I knew that you would surely deal treacherously, and that from before birth you were called a rebel.

“ Yes, I will tell you of things that are entirely new, things you never heard of before. For I know so well what traitors you are. You have been rebels from birth.

You did not hear, you do not know, you were not told beforehand. For I know that you are very deceitful; you were labeled a rebel from birth.

Yes, you didn’t hear. Yes, you didn’t know. Yes, from of old your ear was not opened, for I knew that you dealt very treacherously, and were called a transgressor from the womb.

The wicked are estranged from the womb: They go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.

For Jehovah hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes, the prophets; and your heads, the seers, hath he covered.And all vision is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee; and he saith, I cannot, for it is sealed:

But Jehovah hearkened unto me that time also.And Jehovah was very angry with Aaron to destroy him: and I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth- hattaavah, ye provoked Jehovah to wrath.And when Jehovah sent you from Kadesh- barnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of Jehovah your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.Ye have been rebellious against Jehovah from the day that I knew you.

A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous man dealeth treacherously, and the destroyer destroyeth. Go up, O Elam; besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.

And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn again, and be healed.

O Jehovah, thou hast searched me, and known me.Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising; Thou understandest my thought afar off.Thou searchest out my path and my lying down, And art acquainted with all my ways.For there is not a word in my tongue, But, lo, O Jehovah, thou knowest it altogether.

For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith Jehovah.

Sacrifice and offering thou hast no delight in; Mine ears hast thou opened: Burnt- offering and sin- offering hast thou not required.

Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I send? who is blind as he that is at peace with me, and blind as Jehovah’s servant?Thou seest many things, but thou observest not; his ears are open, but he heareth not.

For this cause they could not believe, for that Isaiah said again,He hath blinded their eyes, and he hardened their heart; Lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, And should turn, And I should heal them.

Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; that have eyes, and see not; that have ears, and hear not:

To whom shall I speak and testify, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of Jehovah is become unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

among whom we also all once lived in the lusts of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest:—

Remember this, and show yourselves men; bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors.

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity; And in sin did my mother conceive me.

Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith Jehovah.

Jehovah, thy hand is lifted up, yet they see not: but they shall see thy zeal for the people, and be put to shame; yea, fire shall devour thine adversaries.

Therefore speak I to them in parables; because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.And unto them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall in no wise understand; And seeing ye shall see, and shall in no wise perceive:For this people’s heart is waxed gross, And their ears are dull of hearing, And their eyes they have closed; Lest haply they should perceive with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And should turn again, And I should heal them.

and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah unto Jerusalem: Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of the Canaanite; the Amorite was thy father, and thy mother was a Hittite.And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to cleanse thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.No eye pitied thee, to do any of these things unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, for that thy person was abhorred, in the day that thou wast born.

They have dealt treacherously against Jehovah; for they have borne strange children: now shall the new moon devour them with their fields.

Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;

But they like Adam have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

The Lord Jehovah hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away backward.

Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of Jehovah which he loveth, and hath married the daughter of a foreign god.

And I said after she had done all these things, She will return unto me; but she returned not: and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.And I saw, when, for this very cause that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a bill of divorcement, yet treacherous Judah her sister feared not; but she also went and played the harlot.And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that the land was polluted, and she committed adultery with stones and with stocks.And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not returned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith Jehovah.And Jehovah said unto me, Backsliding Israel hath showed herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.
