看哪，我要行一件新事，如今就要顯明，你們豈不知道嗎？我必在曠野開道路，在沙漠開江河。野地的走獸要尊敬我，野狗和鴕鳥也必尊敬我。因我使曠野有水，使沙漠有河，好賜給我的百姓、我的選民喝。

那時，瘸子必跳躍如鹿，啞巴的舌頭必歡呼。在曠野有水噴出，在沙漠有江河湧流。火熱之地要變為水池，乾渴之地要變為泉源。野狗躺臥休息之處必長出青草、蘆葦和蒲草。

看哪，我要在何烈的磐石那裏，站在你面前。你要擊打磐石，水就會從磐石流出來，給百姓喝。」摩西就在以色列的長老眼前這樣做了。

摩西舉起手來，用杖擊打磐石兩下，就有許多水流出來，會眾和他們的牲畜都喝了。

你從天上賜下糧食給他們充飢，使水從磐石流出給他們解渴。你吩咐他們進去，得你起誓應許要賜給他們的地。

他在曠野使磐石裂開，多多地給他們水喝，如從深淵而出。

他們要哭泣而來。我要照他們懇求的引導他們，使他們在河水旁行走正直的路，他們在其上必不致絆跌；因為我是以色列的父，以法蓮是我的長子。
