看哪，我要做一件新事；如今要发现，你们岂不知道吗？我必在旷野开道路，在沙漠开江河。野地的走兽必尊重我；野狗和鸵鸟也必如此。因我使旷野有水，使沙漠有河，好赐给我的百姓、我的选民喝。

我必在何烈的磐石那里，站在你面前。你要击打磐石，从磐石里必有水流出来，使百姓可以喝。”摩西就在以色列的长老眼前这样行了。

“困苦穷乏人寻求水却没有；他们因口渴，舌头干燥。我耶和华必应允他们；我以色列的神必不离弃他们。我要在净光的高处开江河，在谷中开泉源；我要使沙漠变为水池，使干地变为涌泉。

他打开磐石，水就涌出；在干旱之处，水流成河。

在大行杀戮的日子，高台倒塌的时候，各高山冈陵必有川流河涌。

不饥不渴，炎热和烈日必不伤害他们；因为怜恤他们的必引导他们，领他们到水泉旁边。

他曾击打磐石，使水涌出，成了江河；他还能赐粮食吗？还能为他的百姓预备肉吗？”

摩西举手，用杖击打磐石两下，就有许多水流出来，会众和他们的牲畜都喝了。

从天上赐下粮食充他们的饥，从磐石使水流出解他们的渴，又吩咐他们进去得你起誓应许赐给他们的地。

他在旷野分裂磐石，多多地给他们水喝，如从深渊而出。

他们要哭泣而来。我要照他们恳求的引导他们，使他们在河水旁走正直的路，在其上不致绊跌；因为我是以色列的父，以法莲是我的长子。”
