雅各家以色列族赤子、及猶大支派、崇事萬有之主、以色列族之上帝耶和華、指其名而誓、以之是恃、自稱為聖邑之民、特爾心非由於誠慤、今宜聽耶和華之言。

Hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and who came from the waters of Judah, who swear by the name of the Lord and confess the God of Israel, but not in truth or right.

“ Listen to me, O family of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel and born into the family of Judah. Listen, you who take oaths in the name of the Lord and call on the God of Israel. You don’t keep your promises,

“ Hear this, house of Jacob, who are named Israel And who came from the waters of Judah, Who swear by the name of the Lord And invoke the God of Israel, But not in truth nor in righteousness.

“ Listen to this, house of Jacob— those who are called by the name Israel and have descended from Judah, who swear by the name of Yahweh and declare the God of Israel, but not in truth or righteousness.

Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel,[ but] not in truth, nor in righteousness.

Listen to this, O family of Jacob, you who are called by the name‘ Israel,’ and are descended from Judah, who take oaths in the name of the LORD, and invoke the God of Israel– but not in an honest and just manner.

“ Hear this, house of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel, and have come out of the waters of Judah. You swear by Yahweh’s name, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness—

then you can swear,“ As the LORD lives,” in truth, justice, and righteousness, and then the nations will be blessed by him and will boast in him.

Bless God in the assemblies; bless the LORD from the fountain of Israel.

Water will flow from his buckets, and his seed will be by abundant water. His king will be greater than Agag, and his kingdom will be exalted.

When they say,“ As the LORD lives,” they are swearing falsely.

Fear the LORD your God, worship him, and take your oaths in his name.

By myself I have sworn; truth has gone from my mouth, a word that will not be revoked: Every knee will bow to me, every tongue will swear allegiance.

This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.They worship me in vain, teaching as doctrines human commands.”

“‘ Do you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and follow other gods that you have not known?Then do you come and stand before me in this house that bears my name and say,“ We are rescued, so we can continue doing all these detestable acts”?

Whoever asks for a blessing in the land will ask for a blessing by the God of truth, and whoever swears in the land will swear by the God of truth. For the former troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my sight.

So Israel dwells securely; Jacob lives untroubled in a land of grain and new wine; even his skies drip with dew.

Should your springs flow in the streets, streams in the public squares?

They are still observing the former practices to this day. None of them fear the LORD or observe the statutes and ordinances, the law and commandments that the LORD had commanded the descendants of Jacob, whom he had given the name Israel.

They seek me day after day and delight to know my ways, like a nation that does what is right and does not abandon the justice of their God. They ask me for righteous judgments; they delight in the nearness of God.”

Now it is not as though the word of God has failed, because not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom! Listen to the instruction of our God, you people of Gomorrah!“ What are all your sacrifices to me?” asks the LORD.“ I have had enough of burnt offerings and rams and the fat of well-fed cattle; I have no desire for the blood of bulls, lambs, or male goats.When you come to appear before me, who requires this from you— this trampling of my courts?Stop bringing useless offerings. Your incense is detestable to me. New Moons and Sabbaths, and the calling of solemn assemblies— I cannot stand iniquity with a festival.I hate your New Moons and prescribed festivals. They have become a burden to me; I am tired of putting up with them.

LORD our God, lords other than you have owned us, but we remember your name alone.

That is, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children, but the children of the promise are considered to be the offspring.

You are to fear the LORD your God and worship him. Remain faithful to him and take oaths in his name.

But God says to the wicked:“ What right do you have to recite my statutes and to take my covenant on your lips?You hate instruction and fling my words behind you.When you see a thief, you make friends with him, and you associate with adulterers.You unleash your mouth for evil and harness your tongue for deceit.You sit, maligning your brother, slandering your mother’s son.

The LORD has sworn with his right hand and his strong arm: I will no longer give your grain to your enemies for food, and foreigners will not drink the new wine for which you have labored.

Do not swear falsely by my name, profaning the name of your God; I am the LORD.

For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, demeaning, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good,traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,holding to the form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people.

Now if you call yourself a Jew, and rely on the law, and boast in God,

For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, and true circumcision is not something visible in the flesh.On the contrary, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart— by the Spirit, not the letter. That person’s praise is not from people but from God.

God said to him,“ Your name is Jacob; you will no longer be named Jacob, but your name will be Israel.” So he named him Israel.

“ The LORD heard your words when you spoke to me. He said to me,‘ I have heard the words that these people have spoken to you. Everything they have said is right.

“ Pay strict attention to everything I have said to you. You must not invoke the names of other gods; they must not be heard on your lips.

But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by him will boast, for the mouths of liars will be shut.

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. For you don’t go in, and you don’t allow those entering to go in.

I know your affliction and poverty, but you are rich. I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

Then Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said about him,“ Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.”

“ Your name will no longer be Jacob,” he said.“ It will be Israel because you have struggled with God and with men and have prevailed.”
