“ Sit in silence, go into darkness, queen city of the Babylonians; no more will you be called queen of kingdoms.

The Lord says,“ Queen city of the Babylonians, go into a dark prison. Sit there quietly. You will not be called the queen of kingdoms anymore.

Sit in silence, and go into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans; for you shall no more be called the mistress of kingdoms.

“ O beautiful Babylon, sit now in darkness and silence. Never again will you be known as the queen of kingdoms.

“ Daughter Chaldea, sit in silence and go into darkness. For you will no longer be called mistress of kingdoms.

“ Sit silently, and go into darkness, Daughter of the Chaldeans; For you will no longer be called The queen of kingdoms.

“ Sit in silence, and go into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans; For you shall no longer be called The Lady of Kingdoms.

Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans; for thou shalt no more be called The mistress of kingdoms.

“ Daughter Chaldea, sit in silence and go into darkness. For you will no longer be called mistress of kingdoms.

Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, The lady of kingdoms.

“ Sit silently! Go to a hiding place, O daughter of the Babylonians! Indeed, you will no longer be called‘ Queen of kingdoms.’

You said,‘ I will be a princess forever,’ so that you didn’t lay these things to your heart, nor did you remember the results.

But Yahweh is in his holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before him!”

However much she glorified herself, and grew wanton, so much give her of torment and mourning. For she says in her heart,‘ I sit a queen, and am no widow, and will in no way see mourning.’

How the city sits solitary, that was full of people! She has become as a widow, who was great among the nations! She who was a princess among the provinces has become a slave!

“ Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”

and he said to him,‘ Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless.Then the king said to the servants,‘ Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness. That is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’

He carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness. I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet- colored beast, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns.The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of the sexual immorality of the earth.And on her forehead a name was written,“ MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”

Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp.

wild waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved forever.

The woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth.”

“ Why do we sit still? Assemble yourselves! Let’s enter into the fortified cities, and let’s be silent there; for Yahweh our God has put us to silence, and given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against Yahweh.

Let me not be disappointed, Yahweh, for I have called on you. Let the wicked be disappointed. Let them be silent in Sheol.

Be silent, all flesh, before Yahweh; for he has roused himself from his holy habitation!”

Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans’ pride, will be like when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.It will never be inhabited, neither will it be lived in from generation to generation. The Arabian will not pitch a tent there, neither will shepherds make their flocks lie down there.

For the stars of the sky and its constellations will not give their light. The sun will be darkened in its going out, and the moon will not cause its light to shine.

that you will take up this parable against the king of Babylon, and say,“ How the oppressor has ceased! The golden city has ceased!”

A mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and cast it into the sea, saying,“ Thus with violence will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down, and will be found no more at all.The voice of harpists, minstrels, flute players, and trumpeters will be heard no more at all in you. No craftsman, of whatever craft, will be found any more at all in you. The sound of a mill will be heard no more at all in you.The light of a lamp will shine no more at all in you. The voice of the bridegroom and of the bride will be heard no more at all in you; for your merchants were the princes of the earth; for with your sorcery all the nations were deceived.In her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been slain on the earth.”

“ I will also make it a possession for the porcupine, and pools of water. I will sweep it with the broom of destruction,” says Yahweh of Armies.

“ Come down and sit in the dust, virgin daughter of Babylon. Sit on the ground without a throne, daughter of the Chaldeans. For you will no longer be called tender and delicate.

saying,‘ Woe, woe, the great city, she who was dressed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls!For in an hour such great riches are made desolate.’ Every ship master, and everyone who sails anywhere, and mariners, and as many as gain their living by sea, stood far away,and cried out as they looked at the smoke of her burning, saying,‘ What is like the great city?’They cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and mourning, saying,‘ Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had their ships in the sea were made rich by reason of her great wealth!’ For she is made desolate in one hour.

He will keep the feet of his holy ones, but the wicked will be put to silence in darkness; for no man will prevail by strength.

You, O king, are king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, the strength, and the glory.Wherever the children of men dwell, he has given the animals of the field and the birds of the sky into your hand, and has made you rule over them all. You are the head of gold.
