彼眾必如草芥、被火焚燬、不能自救脫於烈焰、此火非炭足以暖體、可坐其前、

豈知彼乃草芥、被火焚燬、不能自救、皆為灰燼、不見微炭、不餘爝火、俾人溫暖。

豈知彼若草芥、被火焚燬、不能自救免遭火焰、更無餘炭、可以溫體、亦無微火、可坐其前、

Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame. These are not coals for warmth; this is not a fire to sit by.

They are just like straw. Fire will burn them up. They can’t even save themselves from the powerful flames. These are not like coals that can warm anyone. This is not like a fire to sit by.

Behold, they are like stubble; the fire consumes them; they cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame. No coal for warming oneself is this, no fire to sit before!

But they are like straw burning in a fire; they cannot save themselves from the flame. You will get no help from them at all; their hearth is no place to sit for warmth.

Look, they are like stubble; fire burns them. They cannot rescue themselves from the power of the flame. This is not a coal for warming themselves, or a fire to sit beside!

Behold, they have become like stubble, Fire burns them; They cannot save themselves from the power of the flame; There will be no coal to warm by Nor a fire to sit before!

萬軍之耶和華說：「看哪！那日子將要來到，燃燒如火爐；所有傲慢的和作惡的都必成為麥稭，那要來的日子必把他們燒盡，不留下一根一枝。

是誰從東方興起了一人，憑公義把他召喚到腳前？是誰把列國交在他面前，讓他制伏君王們？他用刀使他們如塵土，用弓使他們像被吹散的麥稭；

你們不要怕那些能殺死身體卻不能殺死靈魂的；反而倒要懼怕那位能把靈魂和身體都毀滅在地獄裡的。

以色列的光必成為火，他的聖者必成為烈焰，一日之內就把亞述王的荊棘和蒺藜焚燒吞噬；

那崩毀好像陶匠的瓦器被搗毀，被無情地打碎，以致在碎瓦塊中找不到一片可以用來從爐裡取火或從池中舀水。」

隨後，一位強有力的天使拿起一塊像大磨石那樣的石頭，把它丟進海裡，說：「大巴比倫城也將這樣被猛烈地扔下去，絕不會再找到了！

一個人就是賺得了全世界，卻賠上了自己的生命，到底有什麼益處呢？人還能拿什麼來換回自己的生命呢？

他們剛被栽下，剛被種下，根莖剛在地裡扎下，神向他們一吹氣，他們就枯乾了，狂風把他們像麥稭一樣吹走。

因此，火舌怎樣吞噬麥稭，乾草怎樣倒在火焰中，照樣，他們的根也必像腐朽之物，他們的花必像塵土飛散；因為他們厭棄萬軍之耶和華的訓誨，藐視以色列聖者的言語。

我的神哪，求你使他們如同旋風中的塵土，如同風前的麥稭！火怎樣焚燒森林，火焰怎樣燒盡群山，求你照樣用你的狂風追趕他們，用你的旋風使他們惶恐。
