“巴比伦处女啊，下来，坐在尘土中！迦勒底女子啊，坐在地上，没有宝座！因为人必不再称你为柔弱娇嫩的了。

巴比倫的處女啊，下來坐在塵埃；迦勒底的閨女啊，沒有寶座，要坐在地上；因為你不再稱為柔弱嬌嫩的。

迦勒底國巴比倫都譬諸女主、失位而坐塗炭、喪其容儀、

巴比倫邑、邑原文作處女當降而坐於塗炭、塗炭原文作塵埃迦勒底邦、邦原文作女下同當坐於地、不坐於位、不復稱嬌柔細膩、

“ Go down, sit in the dust, Virgin Daughter Babylon; sit on the ground without a throne, queen city of the Babylonians. No more will you be called tender or delicate.

“ City of Babylon, go down and sit in the dust. Leave your throne and sit on the ground. Queen city of the Babylonians, your life will not be comfortable and easy anymore.

埃及人啊，去基列取乳香吧！然而，再多的良藥也無法醫治你們。

巴比倫人啊，他們殘忍無道，手持弓箭和矛槍，騎著戰馬，列陣攻擊你們，聲勢如翻騰的大海。

錫安的城門必悲傷、哀哭，錫安必空空地坐在地上。

「底本的居民啊，你們要從榮耀的位子上下來，坐在乾旱的地上，因為毀滅摩押的要來攻擊你們，摧毀你們的堡壘。

以下是耶和華對他的判語，錫安的居民藐視你，嘲笑你；耶路撒冷的居民朝你逃竄的背影搖頭。

你曾想，『我要升到天上，把自己的寶座設在上帝的眾星之上；我要坐在遙遠的北方眾神明聚會的山上；我要升到雲天之上，使自己與至高者一樣。』

你搭救謙卑的人，貶抑眼目高傲的人。

耶和華讓我對君王和太后說：「從寶座上下來吧，因為你們頭上華美的王冠將要掉落。」

祂貶抑高傲的人，拆毀他們高聳的城邑，把它們夷為平地、化為塵土，

你因俊美而心高氣傲，因輝煌而心智敗壞，所以我把你扔到地上，讓你在列國的君王面前出醜。

生活安逸的婦女啊，來聽我的聲音！無憂無慮的女子啊，要側耳聽我的言語！無憂無慮的女子啊，再過一年多，你們必因恐懼而戰抖。那時，必沒有葡萄可摘，沒有果子可收。生活安逸的婦女啊，戰抖吧！無憂無慮的女子啊，顫慄吧！你們要脫下衣服，腰束麻布，

耶路撒冷啊，抖掉身上的灰塵，起來坐到寶座上！被擄的錫安城啊，卸去你頸上的鎖鏈！

她過去怎樣自炫自耀、奢華荒淫，現在也要讓她怎樣痛苦哀傷。因為她心裡說，『我貴為女王，不是寡婦，絕不會經歷哀傷。』

你使他的威榮盡失，王位傾覆。

「老人和小孩陳屍街頭，少男少女都喪身刀下。你在發怒的日子殺了他們，毫不留情。

你聲稱要永遠做王后，不把這些事放在心上，也不思想以後的結局。「淫逸安舒的人啊，聽著！你以為天地間唯你獨尊，你必不致寡居，也不會遭喪子之痛。誰知寡居、喪子二事卻忽然在同一天臨到你身上。即使你懂得許多邪術和符咒，也於事無補。

錫安城的長老腰束麻布，頭蒙灰塵，坐在地上，默然不語；耶路撒冷的少女垂頭至地。

沿海諸王因你而恐懼，都從寶座上下來，除去王袍，脫掉錦衣，坐在地上發抖。

約伯坐在爐灰中，拿瓦片刮身體。

昔日錦衣玉食、生活奢侈的，如今卻流落街頭，躺臥在糞堆中。

他們看到約伯極其痛苦，就陪著他在地上坐了七天七夜，沒有對他說一句話。

祂說：「受欺壓的西頓人啊，你們再也不能歡樂了！你們就是逃到基提，也得不到安寧。」

因為被敵人困在城中，饑餓難熬，連你們中間最溫柔、嬌嫩得連腳也不肯踏在地上的婦女，都要偷偷吃掉自己生的嬰兒和胎胞，不肯分給所愛的丈夫和子女。

你住在懸崖峭壁間，住在高山上，自以為誰也不能把你拉下來，但你的驕傲欺騙了你。即使你如鷹高飛，在星辰間築巢，我也必把你拉下來。這是耶和華說的。

尼尼微王聽到這消息後，便走下寶座，脫下王袍，披上麻衣，坐在爐灰中。

推翻君王的寶座，消滅列國的勢力，掀翻他們的戰車和駕車的人，使戰馬跌倒、騎士自相殘殺。
