巴比倫的處女啊，下來坐在塵埃；迦勒底的閨女啊，沒有寶座，要坐在地上；因為你不再稱為柔弱嬌嫩的。

少女巴比倫哪，下來坐在塵埃；迦勒底啊，沒有寶座，要坐在地上；你不再稱為柔弱嬌嫩。

迦勒底國巴比倫都譬諸女主、失位而坐塗炭、喪其容儀、

巴比倫邑、邑原文作處女當降而坐於塗炭、塗炭原文作塵埃迦勒底邦、邦原文作女下同當坐於地、不坐於位、不復稱嬌柔細膩、

“ Go down, sit in the dust, Virgin Daughter Babylon; sit on the ground without a throne, queen city of the Babylonians. No more will you be called tender or delicate.

“ City of Babylon, go down and sit in the dust. Leave your throne and sit on the ground. Queen city of the Babylonians, your life will not be comfortable and easy anymore.

“ Fall down! Sit in the dirt, O virgin daughter Babylon! Sit on the ground, not on a throne, O daughter of the Babylonians! Indeed, you will no longer be called delicate and pampered.

埃及人啊，去基列取乳香吧！然而，再多的良药也无法医治你们。

巴比伦人啊，他们残忍无道，手持弓箭和矛枪，骑着战马，列阵攻击你们，声势如翻腾的大海。

锡安的城门必悲伤、哀哭，锡安必空空地坐在地上。

“底本的居民啊，你们要从荣耀的位子上下来，坐在干旱的地上，因为毁灭摩押的要来攻击你们，摧毁你们的堡垒。

以下是耶和华对他的判语，“‘锡安的居民藐视你，嘲笑你；耶路撒冷的居民朝你逃窜的背影摇头。

你曾想，‘我要升到天上，把自己的宝座设在上帝的众星之上；我要坐在遥远的北方众神明聚会的山上；我要升到云天之上，使自己与至高者一样。’

你搭救谦卑的人，贬抑眼目高傲的人。

耶和华让我对君王和太后说：“从宝座上下来吧，因为你们头上华美的王冠将要掉落。”

祂贬抑高傲的人，拆毁他们高耸的城邑，把它们夷为平地、化为尘土，

你因俊美而心高气傲，因辉煌而心智败坏，所以我把你扔到地上，让你在列国的君王面前出丑。

生活安逸的妇女啊，来听我的声音！无忧无虑的女子啊，要侧耳听我的言语！无忧无虑的女子啊，再过一年多，你们必因恐惧而战抖。那时，必没有葡萄可摘，没有果子可收。生活安逸的妇女啊，战抖吧！无忧无虑的女子啊，颤栗吧！你们要脱下衣服，腰束麻布，

耶路撒冷啊，抖掉身上的灰尘，起来坐到宝座上！被掳的锡安城啊，卸去你颈上的锁链！

她过去怎样自炫自耀、奢华荒淫，现在也要让她怎样痛苦哀伤。因为她心里说，‘我贵为女王，不是寡妇，绝不会经历哀伤。’

你使他的威荣尽失，王位倾覆。

“老人和小孩陈尸街头，少男少女都丧身刀下。你在发怒的日子杀了他们，毫不留情。

你声称要永远做王后，不把这些事放在心上，也不思想以后的结局。“淫逸安舒的人啊，听着！你以为天地间唯你独尊，你必不致寡居，也不会遭丧子之痛。谁知寡居、丧子二事却忽然在同一天临到你身上。即使你懂得许多邪术和符咒，也于事无补。

锡安城的长老腰束麻布，头蒙灰尘，坐在地上，默然不语；耶路撒冷的少女垂头至地。

沿海诸王因你而恐惧，都从宝座上下来，除去王袍，脱掉锦衣，坐在地上发抖。

约伯坐在炉灰中，拿瓦片刮身体。

昔日锦衣玉食、生活奢侈的，如今却流落街头，躺卧在粪堆中。

他们看到约伯极其痛苦，就陪着他在地上坐了七天七夜，没有对他说一句话。

祂说：“受欺压的西顿人啊，你们再也不能欢乐了！你们就是逃到基提，也得不到安宁。”

因为被敌人困在城中，饥饿难熬，连你们中间最温柔、娇嫩得连脚也不肯踏在地上的妇女，都要偷偷吃掉自己生的婴儿和胎胞，不肯分给所爱的丈夫和子女。

你住在悬崖峭壁间，住在高山上，自以为谁也不能把你拉下来，但你的骄傲欺骗了你。即使你如鹰高飞，在星辰间筑巢，我也必把你拉下来。这是耶和华说的。

尼尼微王听到这消息后，便走下宝座，脱下王袍，披上麻衣，坐在炉灰中。

推翻君王的宝座，消灭列国的势力，掀翻他们的战车和驾车的人，使战马跌倒、骑士自相残杀。
