水手都懼怕，各人哀求自己的神明。他們把船上的貨物拋進海裏，為要減輕載重。約拿卻下到艙底，躺臥沉睡。

彼勒叩拜，尼波屈身；巴比倫的偶像馱在走獸和牲畜背上。你們所抬的成了重馱，使牲畜疲乏。

你為自己做的神明在哪裏呢？你遭遇患難的時候，讓它們起來拯救你吧！猶大啊，你神明的數目與你城的數目相等。
