鐵工作斧、炭以煆之、鎚以治之、竭一臂之力、使之成器、若其不飲不食、氣力俱廢。木工用準繩、循規矩、運其利器、作人之形、窮極華美、置之於室、伐柏香木以及橡櫟、此皆木之堅者、亦植杉樹、得雨露之養、人取為柴、燃之可以暖體、可以烘餅、復作上帝像、俯伏而拜。材木之半、焚之可以備餚、可以炙肉、食之果腹、向火得暖、人樂以觀火。更有餘木、以製偶像、以像上帝、俯伏而拜、禱曰、誠我上帝、爾其救予、維彼不識不知、其目若塗以泥、其心不明、孰能深思其故、奮然儆醒曰、材木之半、焚之可以烘餅炙肉、而供口腹、則其餘材、豈可作像、拜此可憎之榾柮。

彼所簡之王、所立之牧、非我所悅、以金銀作偶像、必為我所殄絕。撒馬利亞人拜犢像、作可惡之事、我深痛疾、爾不向善、伊於何底、作斯犢像者、以色列之工人也、彼非上帝、故必見毀、

億兆之禮儀虛偽、有入林叢、以斧伐木、以工治之、以金銀飾之、以鎚釘之、使不搖動、

工塑偶像、飾以金箔、垂以銀鏈、惟彼貧乏、無寶堪獻、遴選堅木、而僱巧工、俾作木偶、歷久不壞。

籌思既竟、作二金犢、告民曰、詣耶路撒冷甚難、昔導以色列族出自埃及之上帝即此。

工人雕木偶、鑄金像、俱屬虛偽、口不能言、作之者亦賴之、何益之有、木石不能言、有求其起而庇佑者、禍必不遠、維彼偶像、雖飾金銀、不通呼吸、焉能有應、惟耶和華在厥聖殿、天下之人、俱當寅畏焉。

既為上帝亦子、則上帝之體、不可以若金、若銀、若石、人工機巧琢之、

惟彼偶像、崇之者愚蠢、鑄之者蒙羞、偶像偽物。內無生氣。
