“ Woe to the one who quarrels with his Maker— A piece of pottery among the other earthenware pottery pieces! Will the clay say to the potter,‘ What are you doing?’ Or the thing you are making say,‘ He has no hands’?

祸哉，那与造他的主争论的！他不过是地上瓦片中的一块瓦片。泥土岂可对抟弄他的说：“你做什么呢？”所做的物岂可说：“你没有手呢？”

“那与造他的主争论的人有祸了！他不过是地上瓦块中的一片。泥土岂可对塑造它的说：‘你做的是什么？你所做的物怎么没有把手呢？’

“跟造物主争辩的人有祸了！他不过是世上瓦器中的一件。陶泥怎能对陶匠说，‘你在做什么’？受造之物怎能说，‘造我的没手艺’？

那与他的创造主争论的，有祸了！他不过是地上瓦片中的一片瓦片，泥土能对陶匠说：‘你在作什么？’或你所作成的说：‘他没有手’吗？

祸哉！那与他的塑造者争论的！他不过是地上瓦片中的片瓦。难道陶泥能对陶匠说：“你做的是什么东西？你做的怎么没有把手呢？”

禍哉，那與造他的主爭論的！他不過是地上瓦片中的一塊瓦片。泥土豈可對摶弄它的說：你做甚麼呢？所做的物豈可說：你沒有手呢？

「那與造他的主爭論的人有禍了！他不過是地上瓦塊中的一片。泥土豈可對塑造它的說：『你做的是甚麼？你所做的物怎麼沒有把手呢？』

那與他的創造主爭論的，有禍了！他不過是地上瓦片中的一片瓦片，泥土能對陶匠說：‘你在作甚麼？’或你所作成的說：‘他沒有手’嗎？

『有禍啊，那跟塑造他、的主爭論的！瓦器跟摶土者計較的！泥土哪能對塑造它的說：「你在作甚麼？」或是說：「你所作的沒有把手呀」？

禍哉！那與他的塑造者爭論的！他不過是地上瓦片中的片瓦。難道陶泥能對陶匠說：「你做的是什麼東西？你做的怎麼沒有把手呢？」

土壤瓦礫中之片瓦、與造之者爭辯、其有禍矣、塗泥豈能謂陶人曰、爾何為乎、所造之物豈得曰、彼無手乎、

人若陶器、居於土壤、如與造化主爭、禍必及之。譬諸塗泥、豈能謂陶人曰、奚造我若此、受造之物、豈能謂造之者、毫無技能。

世人如地上瓦礫中之瓦片、欲與造之之主爭、禍必及之、泥豈能謂陶人曰、爾何為乎、被製之物豈能對製者曰、非經爾手、非經爾手或作爾無手也

“ Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker, those who are nothing but potsherds among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter,‘ What are you making?’ Does your work say,‘ The potter has no hands’?

How terrible it will be for anyone who argues with their Maker! They are like a broken piece of pottery lying on the ground. Does clay say to a potter,“ What are you making?” Does a pot say,“ The potter doesn’t have any skill”?

“ Woe to him who strives with him who formed him, a pot among earthen pots! Does the clay say to him who forms it,‘ What are you making?’ or‘ Your work has no handles’?

“ What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying,‘ Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim,‘ How clumsy can you be?’

“ Woe to the one who argues with his Maker— one clay pot among many. Does clay say to the one forming it,‘ What are you making?’ Or does your work say,‘ He has no hands’?

“ Woe to him who strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him who forms it,‘ What are you making?’ Or shall your handiwork say,‘ He has no hands’?

Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! a potsherd among the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?

“ Woe to the one who argues with his Maker— one clay pot among many. Does clay say to the one forming it,‘ What are you making?’ Or does your work say,‘ He has no hands’?

Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker![ Let] the potsherd[ strive] with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?

One who argues with his creator is in grave danger, one who is like a mere shard among the other shards on the ground! The clay should not say to the potter,“ What in the world are you doing? Your work lacks skill!”

Woe to him who strives with his Maker— a clay pot among the clay pots of the earth! Shall the clay ask him who fashions it,‘ What are you making?’ or your work,‘ He has no hands?’

On the contrary, who are you, you foolish person, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder,“ Why did you make me like this,” will it?Or does the potter not have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one object for honorable use, and another for common use?

But now, Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter, And all of us are the work of Your hand.

“ Am I not able, house of Israel, to deal with you as this potter does?” declares the Lord.“ Behold, like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, house of Israel.

But indeed, for this reason I have allowed you to remain, in order to show you My power and in order to proclaim My name throughout the earth.Still you exalt yourself against My people by not letting them go.

I set a trap for you and you were also caught, Babylon, While you yourself were not aware; You have been found and also seized Because you have engaged in conflict with the Lord.”

You turn things around! Shall the potter be considered as equal with the clay, That what is made would say to its maker,“ He did not make me”; Or what is formed say to him who formed it,“ He has no understanding”?

Is the axe to boast itself over the one who chops with it? Is the saw to exalt itself over the one who wields it? That would be like a club wielding those who lift it, Or like a rod lifting the one who is not wood.

There is no wisdom, no understanding, And no plan against the Lord.

Will you really nullify My judgment? Will you condemn Me so that you may be justified?Or do you have an arm like God, And can you thunder with a voice like His?

Distress and anguish terrify him, They overpower him like a king ready for the attack,Because he has reached out with his hand against God, And is arrogant toward the Almighty.He rushes headlong at Him With his massive shield.

The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers conspire together Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,“ Let’s tear their shackles apart And throw their ropes away from us!”He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying,“ But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain.”“ I will announce the decree of the Lord: He said to Me,‘ You are My Son, Today I have fathered You.Ask it of Me, and I will certainly give the nations as Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth as Your possession.You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.’ ”

Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? We are not stronger than He, are we?
