I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the Lord, do all these things.

I cause light to shine. I also create darkness. I bring good times. I also create hard times. I do all these things. I am the Lord.

你當思索神的作為，因為他折彎的，誰能夠拉直呢？順境時你當快樂，逆境時你當思索：神使這個發生，也使那個發生，為的是讓人查不出身後的事。

因為神是審判者，他降卑這人、高舉那人；

然而耶和華有智慧，他降下災禍，不收回自己的話；他起來攻擊作惡者的家，攻擊助紂為虐的人。

做成了你手和你計劃所預定要成就的一切事。

禍哉！亞述，我怒氣的棍！他們手中的杖就是我的憤怒。我要派遣他去攻擊一個不敬虔的國家，吩咐他去攻打我所惱怒的子民，擄財掠貨，踐踏他們，如同踐踏街上的泥土。

你設立黑暗，就有了夜，森林中的百獸在夜間爬行；少壯獅子吼叫獵食，尋求來自神的食物。太陽升起，牠們就退回，到自己的巢穴裡躺臥；而人出去工作，勞碌直到傍晚。

並且用永恆的鎖鏈把那些不守本位、離開自己居所的天使拘留在幽暗裡，直到那大日子的審判。

因為那吩咐「要有光從黑暗裡照耀出來」的神，已經照耀了我們的心，為要發出神榮耀的知識之光——這光就在耶穌基督的臉上。

我觀看你手指所造的天，並你所安設的月亮星宿，

神把它們安置在天上的穹蒼中來照亮大地，分管晝與夜，並分開光與黑暗。神看這是好的。

耶和華賜力量給他的子民，耶和華以平安祝福他的子民。

是海中的狂浪，湧出自己可恥的泡沫；是流蕩的星辰，有漆黑的幽暗永遠為他們存留。

一切美好的賞賜和各樣完美的恩賜，都是從上面、從眾光之父降下來的；在他沒有改變，也沒有轉動的影子。

神說：「要有光」，就有了光。神看光是好的。神把光和黑暗分開，神稱光為「晝」，稱黑暗為「夜」。有晚上，有早晨；這是第一日。
